Lineage OG Kush Seeds
OG Kush is a mostly indica hybrid, 55% Indica / 45% Sativa, from crossing Kush Chemdog x Hindu Kush, with Chemdog 4 in its heritage. It carries citrus and lemon flavors over a strong, mostly indica body effect.
With a High THC of 20% to 24%, it delivers aroused, euphoric and uplifted effects, which makes it a great choice for anyone after a potent yet upbeat experience. Its terpene profile is part of why many turn to it for support with fatigue, muscle spasms and stress.
Origin
OG Kush has a storied origin, deeply rooted in the California cannabis culture of the early 1990s. Renowned breeders from the region created this iconic strain by mixing genetics from diverse sources, including lineage from Pakistan and Afghanistan, such as Afghan Kush, alongside stock from the East Coast of America.
That rich heritage shapes the unique character and lasting popularity of OG Kush. Whether grown out by American or European breeders, it consistently delivers exceptional quality and potency, a genuine legacy of champions.
OG Kush Strain Awards
OG Kush has a strong competitive record, with a 2nd Place in 2010 followed by a 1st Place in 2011 at Spannabis, two results that speak to its genetic stability and consistent performance under technical growing conditions.
It added a 3rd Place for Best Flower at the 2014 High Times Cannabis Cup, reinforcing its global standing. That recognition reflects its connoisseur appeal, built on a rich terpene profile and a potency that remains a benchmark in the industry. Honors across different judging panels confirm OG Kush as a true pillar of premium genetics.
OG Kush Sativa or Indica?
OG Kush is a legendary, predominantly indica strain, 55% Indica / 45% Sativa. For growers, the strain means stable, dependable genetics. Understanding its indica-leaning nature helps in cultivating a variety prized for its euphoric, relaxing effects and therapeutic potential.
OG Kush Strain Effects

Germinating Cannabis Seeds OG Kush Seeds
To ensure a thriving start for your OG Kush weed strainĀ crop, proper germination of your seeds is key. Blimburn Seeds suggests a straightforward and effective method for awakening your Feminized cannabis seeds.
Set Up Your Germination Station: Begin by moistening two paper towels with room temperature water. Lay one paper towel on a plate and spread the seeds on it, spacing them about 2 cm apart. Place the second paper towel on top of the seeds, and make sure to remove any excess water from the plate. Cover the setup with another opaque plate and store it in a warm, dark location.
Monitoring: Make sure paper towels are still moist by checking every 4-6 hours and spraying room temperature water. Typically, germination should occur within 24 to 120 hours. Once the seeds have sprouted tap roots, plant them with the roots facing down and cover with about 2 cm of soil. Remember to water the soil regularly by spraying to keep it moist. It may take up to two weeks for the plants to start growing.
Ideal Conditions: Maintain a consistent temperature of 70-90ĀŗF in the germination area. Use purified room temperature bottled water with a pH level between 5.5 and 7. Keep the seeds away from light, allowing exposure for less than 1 minute before and during germination. Avoid touching the seeds or applying pressure to them.
Record Keeping: To qualify for the three month germination guarantee, it is necessary to follow all the steps outlined in our germination guidelines. Please do not use alternative germination methods, such as using a water bottle or planting directly into soil. Document the germination process through photography or video, as it will be requested when assessing claims for replacement products.

How To Grow OG Kush Seeds?
OG Kush seeds can be grown indoors or outdoors under optimal conditions, which helps avoid problems during development. The plants are compact, robust, hardy and moderately easy to grow, though it is always worth guarding against pests.
A few methods help retain and enhance the terpenes and flavors of your feminized OG Kush buds:
- Use a quality substrate. Perlite, peat or coco coir are ideal for moisture retention.
- In our customersā experience with feminized OG Kush seeds, good technique can increase yields by up to 20%.
For optimal indoor cultivation, Blimburn Seeds advises wide, vertical spaces and the ScrOG method to build a uniform canopy and increase the size of the lower flowers. If you plan to grow these feminized seeds outdoors, we have put together a grow guide for optimal cultivation anywhere in the world.
Feed good nutrients at every stage, from seedling through the vegetative and flowering periods. Outdoors, choose the best sowing date and a spot with the most hours of sunshine. Indoors, set up quality tents, fabric pots, LED lighting, an air extractor for clean air circulation and a good carbon filter to avoid problems with neighbors or the law.
Keep daytime temperatures between 68 and 80 ā, and night temperatures 7 to 9 ā cooler than the day. These feminized plants thrive in low humidity: keep RH at 55 to 60% during the vegetative phase, reduce it to around 40% in flowering, and down to 30% by harvest.
Outdoors, growers in the northern hemisphere should sow in April for harvest in October. Healthy feminized OG Kush plants produce about 21.16 to 24.69 oz per plant (600 to 700 g).
Indoors, the cycle runs 8 to 10 weeks with yields of about 1.47 to 1.64 oz/ft² (450 to 500 g/m²).
Optimal Climate Conditions for Cultivating
OG Kush does best in a dry or temperate climate with hot, dry summers and mild, wet winters. It thrives when temperatures range from 68 to 80 ā (20 to 27 ā), which suits both indoor and outdoor cultivation. For optimal growth it needs sunlight for most of the day and well-draining soil to prevent moisture buildup and root rot.
These favorable growing conditions make OG Kush well suited to many parts of the U.S., especially states with seasonal shifts that mimic its natural environment. Ideal states include California, Oregon, Nevada, Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, Florida and Hawaii, all offering the right weather, consistent sunlight and soil. Grown in these climates, OG Kush develops healthy plants and shows off its distinctive potency and flavor.
What Does The OG Kush Smell Like?
The buds of OG Kush are rock-hard, soaked in resin and often carry a crystalline sheen from the sheer amount of trichomes. On the palate it leads with bright citrus and lemon, backed by notes of sour fuel (diesel), pine and an earthy, damp undertone.
It makes for a smooth, soft smoke and a strong, satisfying experience. Thanks to its heavy resin production, it is also an ideal strain for high-quality extracts and concentrates that capture its citrus-lemon, fuel-and-pine character.

OG Kush Strain Terpenes
OG Kush carries an unusually broad eighteen-terpene profile behind its citrus and lemon character and its euphoric, uplifted high, with four terpenes leading the way.
Limonene leads with a bright, zesty citrus note that defines the lemon side of the aroma and gives OG Kush its unmistakable top end. It is the terpene most widely associated with an uplifting, mood-brightening quality that lifts the spirits. In this strain that lift ties directly to the euphoric, aroused character and to the comfort many look for against fatigue and low energy.
Caryophyllene adds a warm, peppery spice that grounds the profile and gives it backbone against the citrus. It is the one common terpene that interacts with the body’s CB2 receptors, which is why it is so widely tied to a calming, tension-easing quality. Here that grounding note is central to the relief many seek for muscle spasms and physical tension.
Myrcene brings a deep, earthy-musky sweetness that rounds out the base and carries the damp, earthy undertone. It is the terpene most widely associated with a relaxing, body-settling quality that eases physical rigidity. In OG Kush it softens the stimulating citrus lift and supports the easing of involuntary contractions and overworked muscles.
Linalool rounds out the lead with a soft, floral sweetness that smooths the sharper fuel and pine notes. It is widely tied to a calming, stress-easing quality that helps quiet a restless, overactive mind. In this cultivar it anchors the strain’s reputation for emotional decompression and relief from everyday stress.
Rounding out this dense profile, Alpha-Pinene and Terpinolene add fresh, piney brightness, Humulene and Eugenol lend earthy, woody and spiced depth, and a broad supporting cast of minor terpenes (Borneol, Nerolidol, Citral, Camphene, Phytol, Farnesene, Fenchol, Cadinene, Bisabolol-adjacent notes and more) fills in the herbal, camphor and subtly fuel-like complexity OG Kush is known for.

How To Grow OG Kush
Read NowOG Kush is famous for its unique, vine-like growth structure. It is not a compact plant. Expect a medium-to-tall plant that will stretch significantly during the first few weeks of flowering, often doubling in size. It develops long, lanky, but surprisingly sturdy branches with significant space between the nodes. This structure is perfect for training techniques like ScrOG and LST.
Instead of long, running colas, OG Kush typically produces extremely dense, round, and golf-ball-like nugs that cluster tightly at the nodes along its long branches. They are famous for their incredible density, a super-thick coating of frosty resin that makes them sticky to the touch, and a classic lime-green color highlighted by vibrant orange pistils.
It can be a challenging strain for a first-time grower. Its tendency to stretch aggressively requires proactive training to manage in small spaces. It is also a notoriously heavy feeder and can be sensitive to nutrient fluctuations. We typically recommend OG Kush for intermediate to experienced growers who are comfortable with plant training and dialing in a precise feeding schedule.
Managing its vertical stretch is the key to a massive harvest. Topping the plant during the vegetative stage is highly recommended to break its apical dominance and create a more level, bushy canopy. From there, its long and flexible branches are absolutely perfect for a ScrOG (Screen of Green) setup. By weaving the branches through the net, you can control its height and create a massive, flat plane of dense, top-shelf, gassy buds.
