Lineage Grandaddy Black Seeds
Grandaddy Black is a mostly indica hybrid, 90% Indica / 10% Sativa, from crossing Black Domina ’98 with Grandaddy Purple. It carries an earthy, fruity and sweet flavor over a strong, mostly indica body high.
With a THC of 19% to 23%, it is a great choice for anyone after a strong, relaxing experience.
Origin
Grandaddy Black is a carefully crafted cross between Black Domina ā98 and Grandaddy Purple, inheriting a rich genetic history.
Its ancestry includes Purple Urkle, Big Bud, Afghan, Northern Lights, Hash Plant and Ortega, for a potent, flavorful hybrid.
That complex heritage gives Grandaddy Black a remarkable combination of flavors, colors and effects. The rich lineage drives its strong growth and resinous buds, a popular choice for growers after both quality and stability.
Grandaddy Black Strain Sativa or Indica?
Grandaddy Black is an indica-dominant strain, 90% Indica / 10% Sativa, from crossing Black Domina ā98 with Grandaddy Purple, two legends in the world of cannabis. It is a productive plant with beautiful deep purple, almost black foliage and dense, resin-caked buds.
It leans heavily indica, delivering a deeply relaxed, soothing body high with a mild cerebral uplift from its small sativa side. The overall experience stays calm and comforting.
As a predominantly indica hybrid, Grandaddy Black is perfect for evening use or whenever stress relief is needed, an excellent choice for unwinding after a long day.

Its rich genetics deliver a calming experience that still leaves a little clarity on top, so you can unwind without feeling completely weighed down. Effects vary from person to person.
Germinating Grandaddy Black seeds
It is important to germinate your weed seeds carefully if you want to have a healthy harvest from day one. Although there are several methods to germinate our Feminized cannabis seeds, at Blimburn Seeds, we recommend our customers to follow our easy and simple technique.
Before removing ourĀ Grandaddy BlackĀ seeds from their packaging, remember that cannabis seeds are alive and delicate. Our hands are full of bacteria that can easily infect seeds and ruin our germination.
Set Up Your Germination Station:Ā Begin by moistening two paper towels with room temperature water. Lay one paper towel on a plate and spread the seeds on it, spacing them about 2 cm apart.
Place the second paper towel on top of the seeds, and make sure to remove any excess water from the plate. Cover the setup with another opaque plate and store it in a warm, dark location.
Monitoring:Ā Make sure paper towels are still moist by checking every 4-6 hours and spraying room-temperature water. Typically, germination should occur within 24 to 120 hours.
Once the seeds have sprouted tap roots, plant them with the roots facing down and cover with about 2 cm of soil. Remember to water the soil regularly by spraying to keep it moist. It may take up to two weeks for the plants to start growing.
Ideal Conditions:Ā Maintain a consistent temperature of 70-90ĀŗF in the germination area. Use purified room-temperature bottled water with a pH level between 5.5 and 7.
Keep the seeds away from light, allowing exposure for less than 1 minute before and during germination. Avoid touching the seeds or applying pressure to them.
Record Keeping: To qualify for the three month germination guarantee, it is necessary to follow all the steps outlined in our germination guidelines. Please do not useĀ alternative germination methods, such as using a water bottle or planting directly into soil. Document the germination process through photography or video, as it will be requested when assessing claims for replacement products.
How to grow Grandaddy Black strain?
Grandaddy Black seeds can be grown indoors or outdoors under optimal conditions. The plants are compact, robust, hardy and moderately easy to grow, though it is always worth guarding against pests. A few methods help retain and enhance the terpenes and flavors of your buds:
- Use a quality substrate. Perlite, peat or coco coir are ideal for moisture retention.
- In our customersā experience with Grandaddy Black, good technique can increase yields by up to 20%.
For indoor cultivation, we advise wide, vertical spaces and the ScrOG method to obtain a uniform canopy and build up the lower flowers. Feed quality nutrients through the seedling, vegetative and flowering stages. Outdoors, choose a spot with the most direct sunlight; indoors, set up good tents, fabric pots, LED lighting, an air extractor and a carbon filter.
Keep daytime temperatures between 68 and 80 ā, and night temperatures 7 to 9 ā cooler than the day. These plants prefer low humidity: 55 to 60% in the vegetative phase, around 40% in flowering, and down to 30% by harvest.
Outdoors in the northern hemisphere, sow in April for a harvest in mid-October, at about 15.87 oz per plant (450 g). Indoors, the cycle runs 8 to 10 weeks with yields of 1.64 to 1.97 oz/ft² (500 to 600 g/m²).
Grandaddy Black Seeds Flowering Time
Grandaddy Black has a flowering time of approximately 8 to 10 weeks, a relatively quick option for growers. Its indica-dominant genetics give dense buds coated in trichomes for a potent final product.
Growers can expect excellent yields of high-quality buds with vibrant purple hues and a sweet aroma. Proper care during flowering helps maximize the strainās potential.
Ideal Climate for Growing
Grandaddy Black is appreciated for its potency and compact stature, thriving in a warm, tropical climate ideal for intensive growth. The optimum range is 70 to 85 ā (21 to 29 ā). Consistent temperatures and ample sunlight matter, which is why indoor setups with good climate control give such strong results, and annual rainfall of 15 to 30 inches (380 to 760 mm) suits it, as long as the soil drains well to avoid root rot.
In the United States, the most favorable states include California, Nevada, New Mexico, Arizona and Texas, while Florida also works well thanks to its humid subtropical climate. With controlled environments and the right temperatures, growers can achieve generous harvests of dense, resinous buds and unlock the strainās full potential.
What does the strain smell like?
The buds of Grandaddy Black are rock-hard, soaked in resin and often carry a crystalline sheen from the sheer amount of trichomes, with the deep purple, almost black hues that give the strain its name. On the palate it blends a deep, earthy base with sweet, fruity notes of grape and dark berry, inherited from its Grandaddy Purple and Black Domina parents.
Grandaddy Black makes for a smooth, soft smoke and a strong, relaxing experience. Thanks to its heavy resin production, it is also an ideal strain for high-quality extracts and concentrates that capture its sweet, earthy profile.
If you are craving that rich blend of earthy, fruity sweetness, Grandaddy Purple is the perfect next experience.
Experiencing the strain
With a Medium THC of 19% to 23%, Grandaddy Black brings a happy, deeply relaxed state of body and mind. It leaves you cheerful and at ease, settling into a calm, comfortable body, perfect for the evening after a long day.
It is a mostly indica plant with a sturdy main stem that supports its satellite branches. It grows well indoors or outdoors, with a similar production and a higher yield when it gets full outdoor sunshine.
Grandaddy Black seeds are a mostly indica strain with a flowering period of 8 to 10 weeks. Feeding the right nutrients at each stage helps develop resinous buds and trichomes.
Grandaddy Black strain terpenes
Grandaddy Black has a focused three-terpene profile that shapes its earthy-sweet aroma and its heavy, calming, body-forward high, while the grape and dark-berry fruitiness it is known for also owes much to its Grandaddy Purple and Black Domina lineage.
Linalool leads the profile, a soft, floral note with a faint sweetness that rounds the aroma. It is widely associated with a calming, stress-easing quality that quiets an overactive mind. In Grandaddy Black it drives the deeply relaxed, sleep-friendly character and sits at the center of the strainās use for insomnia and everyday tension.
Terpineol brings the earthy backbone, a soft, lilac-and-pine note with a subtle herbal edge that carries much of the strainās earthy flavor. It is often associated with a relaxing, sedative quality that reinforces the heavy indica feel, and it works alongside the Linalool to soothe the body and settle you toward rest.
Valencene rounds things off with a sweet, fresh, citrus-and-orchard-fruit note that lifts the earthy base and shapes the strainās fruity-sweet side. It is commonly linked to a gently uplifting, mood-brightening quality, adding a light brightness that balances the sedative terpenes without pulling the experience out of its relaxed groove.
Together these three terpenes give Grandaddy Black its earthy, sweet-fruity aroma, while the deep grape and berry notes of its Grandaddy Purple and Black Domina parents round out the flavor and support the strainās soothing, pain- and tension-easing character.
