Germinating Northern Lights Seeds
It is important to carefully germinate your Northern Lights seeds if you want to have a healthy harvest from day one. Although there are several methods to germinate our Feminized cannabis seeds, at Blimburn Seeds we recommend our customers to follow our easy and simple technique.
Before removing our seeds of the Northern Lights seeds Feminized from their packaging, remember that cannabis seeds are alive and delicate. The PH of our hands full of bacteria can easily infect them and ruin our germination.
Set Up Your Germination Station: Begin by moistening two paper towels with room temperature water. Lay one paper towel on a plate and spread the seeds on it, spacing them about 2 cm apart. Place the second paper towel on top of the seeds, and make sure to remove any excess water from the plate. Cover the setup with another opaque plate and store it in a warm, dark location.
Monitoring: Make sure paper towels are still moist by checking every 4-6 hours and spraying room temperature water. Typically, germination should occur within 24 to 120 hours. Once the seeds have sprouted tap roots, plant them with the roots facing down and cover with about 2 cm of soil. Remember to water the soil regularly by spraying to keep it moist. It may take up to two weeks for the plants to start growing.
Ideal Conditions: Maintain a consistent temperature of 70-90ĀŗF in the germination area. Use purified room temperature bottled water with a pH level between 5.5 and 7. Keep the seeds away from light, allowing exposure for less than 1 minute before and during germination. Avoid touching the seeds or applying pressure to them.
Record Keeping: To qualify for the three month germination guarantee, it is necessary to follow all the steps outlined in our germination guidelines. Please do not use alternative germination methods, such as using a water bottle or planting directly into soil. Document the germination process through photography or video, as it will be requested when assessing claims for replacement products.
Northern Lights Seeds Flowering Time
For cultivators seeking optimal harvest timing, knowing Northern Lights’ flowering time is important. This mostly Indica strain flowers in around 8 to 10 weeks, a moderate period that rewards growers with a timely, bountiful harvest.
During that window the plants build the dense, resin-coated buds Northern Lights is famous for, without demanding a long wait. Planning your grow around this predictable flowering time makes it easy to get robust plants and a consistent, high-quality yield.
How to Grow Northern Light Seeds?
Northern LightsĀ seeds can be grown indoors or outdoors under optimal conditions, to avoid any problems during their development. Although they are compact, robust and moderately easy to grow, we should always prevent any pests. You can use different growing methods to retain and enhance the terpenes and flavors of your Feminized Northern Lights buds.
- Use a quality substrate. Perlite, peat or coco coir are ideal for moisture retention.
- Thanks to the experience of our customers with our Feminized Northern Lights seeds, we know that we can increase yields by up to 20%.
For optimal indoor cultivation, Blimburn Seeds advises wide, vertical spaces and the use of the ScrOG method to obtain a uniform canopy and increase the size of the lower flowers. If you plan to grow our Feminized seeds outdoors, we have developed a grow guide for optimal cultivation in any area of the world.
Remember that our cannabis plants also need good nutrients as seedlings, in their vegetative period and finally in their flowering period. When you grow outdoors, choose the best date for your crop and a place where the plants receive the most hours of sunshine.
If on the other hand you prefer to grow your Feminized seeds indoors, use good tents, textile pots, led lighting, an air extractor to circulate clean air and, of course, a good carbon filter to avoid problems with neighbors or the law.
Keep daytime temperatures between 68-80 ā and nighttime temperatures 7 to 9 ā cooler than the day.
These Feminized plants need low humidity to thrive. Keep relative humidity (RH) at 55%-60% during the vegetative phase, reduce it to around 40% during flowering and to about 30% by harvest.
Outdoors, breeders in the northern hemisphere should sow their cannabis seeds in April for harvest in mid October. Healthy Feminized Northern Lights seeds produce about 17 – 21 oz/plant | 500 – 600 gr/plant of buds each. Indoors, these crops have a flowering time of 8 – 10 weeks and produce about 1.47 – 1.64 oz/ft² | 450 – 500 g/m².
Ideal Climate for Cultivating
The Northern Lights cannabis strain flourishes best in a warm, dry climate with plenty of sunshine and low ambient humidity. The most favorable temperature range for its growth and development is 70-85 ā (21-29 ā): higher temperatures can stunt growth and invite pests, while colder temperatures can damage the plant and reduce yield.
The USDA hardiness zones considered ideal for Northern Lights run from 8 to 10, which includes states such as California, Arizona, Texas, Florida and parts of Nevada, Utah, Oregon and Louisiana. Keep in mind that success also depends on strong genetics, not solely on the climate.
A regular watering schedule is important too, especially in hot summer months, to keep the plants from drying out. Together, these conditions support the overall health and potency of your Northern Lights and bring out its aromatic flavor and relaxing effects.
What does the Strain Smell Like?
The buds of Northern Lights are rock hard, soaked in resin and carry a crystalline sheen from the sheer amount of trichomes.

Our Northern Lights seeds are a mostly Indica strain with a flowering period of 8 – 10 weeks. Remember to provide the right nutrients at each stage of cultivation to obtain resinous buds packed with trichomes.
Northern Lights Terpenes
Northern Lights carries a classic indica aroma: earthy and sweet with a resinous pine backbone and a spicy, incense-like, musky hashish edge. It has a broad profile of ten terpenes, led by four dominant players that shape both that scent and its relaxed, happy and focused effect.
Myrcene anchors the blend with a deep, earthy sweetness. As the terpene most tied to body relaxation and rest, it drives the heavy, calming comfort that defines Northern Lights’ indica-dominant high and its use for stress and sleep.
Caryophyllene adds the warm, peppery, incense-like spice and is the only terpene known to bind the body’s CB2 receptors. Widely linked to easing tension, it supports the strain’s calming, anxiety- and pain-friendly side.
Alpha-Pinene, with Beta-Pinene, brings the fresh, resinous pine note at the heart of the aroma. Tied to mental clarity, it keeps the relaxation from turning foggy and lends the focused edge that balances the heavy body feel.
Humulene rounds things out with an earthy, woody, hoppy warmth. Often associated with a grounded, balancing effect, it deepens the base and complements the strain’s dense, resinous character.
A supporting cast of Borneol, Eucalyptol, Phytol, Alpha-Phellandrene and Valencene adds cooling, minty and citrus accents plus extra sedative and mood-settling weight, giving Northern Lights an earthy, sweet, pine-and-incense aroma paired with a deeply relaxed, happy and focused effect made for the evening.

It does not stretch much, making it an ideal choice for growers with limited vertical space or small tents. Its fantastic bud-to-leaf ratio also makes it very easy to trim at harvest time.
Yes, it’s one of the best choices for discretion. While the cured buds are very aromatic, Northern Lights is famous for having a remarkably low odor during the growth cycle. It produces significantly less smell in the grow room compared to modern “gassy” or fruity strains, making it a top choice for growers who need to be mindful of their neighbors or are growing in a confined space.
