Lineage California Dream Strain
California Dream is a mostly indica hybrid, 60% Indica / 40% Sativa, born from crossing Mexican with Afghani genetics. It carries a citrus, fruity and sweet flavor over a strong, relaxing body high.
With a THC of 13% to 17%, it is a great choice for anyone after a smooth, relaxing experience.
Origin
California Dream was born in the USA, a cross between Mexican and Afghani genetics that blends uplifting and relaxing effects in one plant.
Also known as āCali Dreamā among enthusiasts, it pairs the cerebral lift of its Mexican sativa side with the heavy, soothing body of its Afghani indica side.
Despite its American roots, California Dream seeds have gained popularity in Europe and beyond thanks to their consistent growth and quality. That blend of landrace genetics makes it a reliable option for recreational and medicinal users alike.
California Dream Sativa or Indica?
California Dream is an indica-leaning hybrid, 60% Indica / 40% Sativa, combining both sides. Thanks to its Mexican sativa and Afghani indica lineage, it offers the best of both: euphoria and relaxation.
Growers can expect a plant with hybrid traits, a 4.92 ft (1.5 m) stature and a well-rounded structure. Its effects are just as balanced, delivering the mental uplift typical of sativas alongside the soothing body comfort associated with indicas.
California Dream Effects
California Dream delivers a balanced experience that pairs mental clarity with physical relaxation. The sativa influence from its Mexican genetics brings a euphoric, creative buzz, while the Afghani indica adds a calming, full-body relaxation.
Suited to both daytime and evening use, California Dream is a strain many turn to for support with arthritis, insomnia and pain while lifting the mood. Its well-rounded, happy and talkative character makes it versatile for recreational users and those seeking relief from tension or mild aches. Effects vary from person to person.
Germinating California Dream Seeds
It is important to germinate your California Dream seeds carefully if you want to have a healthy harvest from day one. Although there are several methods to germinate our Feminized cannabis seeds, from Blimburn Seeds we recommend our customers to follow our easy and simple technique.
Before removing our California Dream seeds from their packaging, remember that cannabis seeds are alive and delicate. The PH of our hands full of bacteria can easily infect them and ruin our germination.
Set Up Your Germination Station: Begin by moistening two paper towels with room temperature water. Lay one paper towel on a plate and spread the seeds on it, spacing them about 2 cm apart. Place the second paper towel on top of the seeds, and make sure to remove any excess water from the plate. Cover the setup with another opaque plate and store it in a warm, dark location.
Monitoring: Make sure paper towels are still moist by checking every 4-6 hours and spraying room temperature water. Typically, germination should occur within 24 to 120 hours. Once the seeds have sprouted tap roots, plant them with the roots facing down and cover with about 2 cm of soil. Remember to water the soil regularly by spraying to keep it moist. It may take up to two weeks for the plants to start growing.
Ideal Conditions: Maintain a consistent temperature of 70-90ĀŗF in the germination area. Use purified room temperature bottled water with a pH level between 5.5 and 6. Keep the seeds away from light, allowing exposure for less than 1 minute before and during germination. Avoid touching the seeds or applying pressure to them.
Record Keeping: To qualify for the three month germination guarantee, it is necessary to follow all the steps outlined in our germination guidelines. Please do not use alternative germination methods, such as using a water bottle or planting directly into soil. Document the germination process through photography or video, as it will be requested when assessing claims for replacement products.
California Dream Seeds Flowering Time
California Dream has a relatively short flowering period, typically around 8 to 10 weeks, a great fit for growers after quicker harvests without sacrificing quality.
Grown out, California Dream produces dense, resinous buds and a high yield. Its Mexican and Afghani genetics give it resilience and vigor, ensuring successful harvests indoors and outdoors with proper care.
How to Grow California Dream Strain?
California Dream seeds can be grown indoors or outdoors under optimal conditions. The plants are compact, robust and moderately easy to grow, though it is always worth guarding against pests. A few methods help retain and enhance the terpenes and flavors of your feminized California Dream buds:
- Use a quality substrate. Perlite, peat or coco coir are ideal for moisture retention.
- In our customersā experience, good technique can increase yields by up to 20%.
Indoors, use wide, vertical space and the ScrOG method for a uniform canopy and larger lower flowers. If you prefer to grow outdoors, our grow guide covers optimal cultivation anywhere in the world. Feed proper nutrients through the seedling, vegetative and flowering stages, and indoors set up good tents, fabric pots, LED lighting, an air extractor and a carbon filter. Keep daytime temperatures between 68 and 80 ā, and night temperatures 7 to 9 ā cooler than the day.
These feminized plants prefer low humidity: 55 to 60% in the vegetative phase, around 40% in flowering, and down to 30% by harvest.
Outdoors in the northern hemisphere, sow in April for a mid-October harvest, at about 2.82 to 3.53 oz per plant (80 to 100 g). Indoors, the flowering time runs 8 to 10 weeks with yields of 1.97 oz/ft² (600 g/m²).
Ideal Climate for Cultivating
California Dream thrives in the kind of warm, tropical-like climate found in its namesake state. The optimal temperature range is 70 to 85 ā (21 to 29 ā). It is adaptable, comfortable both on the coast and in inland valleys, and handles moderate humidity as long as conditions are not consistently heavy. It needs regular sunlight, prefers a longer growing season for maximum yield, and requires well-draining soil to prevent root problems.
In the United States, ideal climates are found in California, Oregon, Arizona and Nevada, known for their warm weather, while states with long, hot summers such as Texas, New Mexico, Florida and Georgia also suit it. It prefers consistent temperatures, so sudden cold snaps can harm the crop. Even so, California Dream is versatile and has been grown successfully across a range of conditions thanks to its strong genetics.
What does the Strain Smell Like?
The buds of California Dream are rock-hard, soaked in resin and often carry a crystalline sheen from the sheer amount of trichomes. On the palate it blends bright citrus with fruity, sweet notes.
California Dream makes for a smooth, soft smoke behind its strong, relaxing effect. Thanks to its heavy resin production, it is also an ideal strain for high-quality extracts and concentrates that capture its citrus-forward, fruity profile.
Experiencing the California Dream Strain
With a Medium THC of 13% to 17%, California Dream brings a happy, relaxed and talkative state that lifts the mood while easing the body, leaving most users cheerful and content.
It is a fine choice for the evening after a long day. A mostly indica plant with a sturdy main stem that supports its satellite branches, it grows well indoors or outdoors, with a higher yield when it gets full outdoor sunshine.
As a feminized strain, California Dream has a flowering period of 8 to 10 weeks, and feeding the right nutrients at each stage helps develop resinous buds and trichomes.

California Dream Strain Terpenes
California Dream pairs a citrus-forward, fruity-sweet aroma with a happy, relaxed effect, built on a deep terpene profile led by four terpenes.
Myrcene forms the earthy, faintly sweet base of the strain and is the terpene most tied to body relaxation, sleep and a higher pain threshold. It drives the settling calm behind California Dreamās use for insomnia and everyday aches.
Caryophyllene adds a spicy, peppery depth and is the terpene best known for easing inflammation and discomfort at the receptor level, anchoring the strainās relief for arthritis and bodily pain.
Valencene brings a bright, sweet-citrus note, the source of the citrus side of the flavor, and lends a gentle lift that keeps the relaxation pleasant rather than heavy.
Humulene contributes an earthy, hoppy warmth and pairs with Caryophyllene in its anti-inflammatory action, reinforcing the soothing, body-focused comfort the strain is valued for.
Rounding out the profile, Alpha-Pinene and Beta-Pinene add a crisp pine freshness, Borneol and Eucalyptol a cooling, camphor-like touch, and Alpha-Phellandrene with Phytol a herbal, restful finish.
