Lineage Great White Shark strain
Great White Shark is a mostly indica hybrid, 80% Indica / 20% Sativa, from crossing Super Skunk x South American x South Indian. It carries a berry, fruity, sweet and tropical flavor over a strong, mostly indica high.
With a high THC of 21% to 24%, it is a great choice for anyone after a deeply relaxing, calming experience.
Origin
Great White Shark has its origins in Europe, in the renowned cannabis breeding culture of Amsterdam. Created in the 1990s by Dutch seed banks, it quickly rose to fame for its exceptional genetics and potency.
The strain is a blend of Super Skunk, South American and South Indian genetics, a unique lineage that includes notable ancestors like White Widow and Skunk #1.
Its reputation is cemented by an award-winning record, taking 1st prize at the Bio HTCC 1997 and the HIGHLIFE 2005. Whether you are growing Great White Shark seeds or exploring its genetics, it remains a staple in the global cannabis community, a testament to the Dutch breeders who perfected its unique combination.
Great White Shark Strain Sativa or Indica?
Great White Shark is often mistaken for a balanced hybrid, but it primarily leans indica-dominant, 80% Indica / 20% Sativa. It offers the calming depth of an indica with just a subtle cerebral edge, ideal for evening use with a faint creative spark.
Its genetics show their hybrid character, blending deep relaxation with a mild lift for a unique experience. Despite the indica dominance, the slight sativa side keeps the high smooth and well-rounded, appealing to those who enjoy tranquility with a gentle mental clarity.
For users seeking relaxation with a touch of inspiration, it remains a highly desirable choice.
Great White Shark Strain Effects
Great White Shark is renowned for potent effects that work on both mind and body. Users report a calming, relaxed and sleepy onset that eases into deep physical relaxation, an excellent choice for unwinding in the evening after a long day.
Its effects also bring a sense of well-being and relief that many turn to for support with anxiety, low mood and migraines, which makes it popular among medicinal users. Its feminized seeds ensure a high germination rate, appealing to cultivators interested in growing this potent, beneficial strain. Effects vary from person to person.
Germinating Great White Shark seeds
To ensure a successful start for your Great White Shark seeds, it’s important to germinate them with precision, aiming for a robust crop from the outset. Blimburn Seeds advises a straightforward and effective method for germinating Feminized cannabis seeds, distinct from several other techniques available.
Keep in mind that cannabis seeds are sensitive, living entities. Direct contact with the PH-rich and bacteria-laden environment of our hands could potentially contaminate and negatively impact germination.
Set Up Your Germination Station: Begin by moistening two paper towels with room temperature water. Lay one paper towel on a plate and spread the seeds on it, spacing them about 2 cm apart. Place the second paper towel on top of the seeds, and make sure to remove any excess water from the plate. Cover the setup with another opaque plate and store it in a warm, dark location.
Monitoring: Make sure paper towels are still moist by checking every 4-6 hours and spraying room temperature water. Typically, germination should occur within 24 to 120 hours. Once the seeds have sprouted tap roots, plant them with the roots facing down and cover with about 2 cm of soil. Remember to water the soil regularly by spraying to keep it moist. It may take up to two weeks for the plants to start growing.
Ideal Conditions: Maintain a consistent temperature of 70-90ĀŗF in the germination area. Use purified room temperature bottled water with a pH level between 5.5 and 7. Keep the seeds away from light, allowing exposure for less than 1 minute before and during germination. Avoid touching the seeds or applying pressure to them.
Record Keeping: To qualify for the three month germination guarantee, it is necessary to follow all the steps outlined in our germination guidelines. Please do not use alternative germination methods, such as using a water bottle or planting directly into soil. Document the germination process through photography or video, as it will be requested when assessing claims for replacement products.
Great White Shark Seeds Flowering Time
Great White Shark has a relatively short flowering time for an indica-dominant strain, typically 8 to 10 weeks indoors. That quick turnaround is attractive for growers looking to harvest high-quality buds without a long wait, and its genetics give robust growth and resilience suited to novice and experienced cultivators alike.
Its feminized seeds are designed to produce female plants almost exclusively, so growers can maximize yield without the concern of male plants.
Its ability to thrive in a range of growing conditions, together with its potent effects and favorable flowering time, keeps Great White Shark popular among enthusiasts and cultivators alike.
How to grow Great White Shark strain?
Great White Shark seeds can be grown indoors or outdoors under optimal conditions, which helps avoid problems during their development. The plants are compact, robust, hardy and moderately easy to grow, though it is always worth guarding against pests.
A few methods help retain and enhance the terpenes and flavors of your Feminized Great White Shark buds:
- Use a quality substrate. Perlite, peat or coco coir are ideal for moisture retention.
- In our customersā experience with Feminized Great White Shark seeds, good technique can increase yields by up to 20%.
For optimal indoor cultivation, Blimburn Seeds advises wide, vertical spaces and the ScrOG method to build a uniform canopy and increase the size of the lower flowers. If you plan to grow our Feminized seeds outdoors, we have developed a grow guide for optimal cultivation in any part of the world.
Our plants need good nutrients at every stage, from seedling through the vegetative and flowering periods. When growing outdoors, choose the best date for your crop and a spot where the plants get the most hours of sunshine. Indoors, set up good tents, fabric pots, LED lighting, an air extractor to circulate clean air and a quality carbon filter to avoid problems with neighbors or the law.
Keep daytime temperatures between 68 and 80 ā, and night temperatures 7 to 9 ā cooler than the day. Feminized plants thrive in low humidity: keep RH at 55 to 60% during the vegetative phase, reduce it to around 40% in flowering, and down to 30% by harvest.
Outdoors, growers in the northern hemisphere should sow in April for harvest in mid-October. Healthy Feminized Great White Shark seeds produce about 17.64 to 21.16 oz per plant (500 to 600 g).
Indoors, the cycle runs 8 to 10 weeks with yields of about 2.62 oz/ft² (800 g/m²).
Ideal Climate Conditions
Great White Shark thrives best in a dry climate, with hot summers and mild winters. The optimal range is 70 to 85 ā (21 to 29 ā) for robust, healthy growth.
It does well at altitudes of 2,000 meters or lower, where there is continuous sunlight. Keep an eye on rainfall, which should ideally fall between 15 and 30 inches (380 to 760 mm) a year, with well-draining soil to prevent root rot.
In the United States, regions ideal for Great White Shark include California, Nevada, Arizona, Texas and Florida, with their dry, hot summers and mild winters. The same conditions appear in states like South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama and Mississippi. Grown in these conditions, the strain fully expresses its unique, potent genetics for a superior-quality crop.

Great White Shark Strain terpenes
Great White Shark carries a broad ten-terpene profile that shapes both its sweet, fruity-berry aroma and its calming, sleepy indica high, with four terpenes leading the way.
Myrcene heads the profile with a deep, fruity, earthy note that underpins much of the aroma. It is widely associated with a relaxed, body-soothing feel, central to the heavy calm behind the strainās use for migraines and physical tension.
Linalool brings a soft, floral sweetness widely linked to a calming, stress-easing quality that quiets a restless mind. In this cultivar it drives the settled, sleepy finish and sits behind the relief many seek for anxiety.
Caryophyllene adds a warm, peppery spice to the sweet, fruity base. It is the one terpene that interacts with the bodyās CB2 receptors and is widely linked to calming, anti-inflammatory properties, part of the relief Great White Shark is turned to for migraines and tension.
Terpinolene lifts the top of the aroma with a fresh, fruity-herbal brightness that echoes the tropical, sweet notes. It is widely associated with an uplifting quality, a bright counterpoint to the body calm that supports the strainās use for low mood.
Rounding out the profile, Bisabolol adds a soft, chamomile-like calm, Farnesene a green, fruity-apple note, Alpha-Pinene a crisp pine freshness, Beta-Phellandrene a minty-citrus lift, Camphene a cool, piney edge, and Humulene a dry, hoppy, woody tone.
