Lineage Grandaddy Purple Regular Strain

Grandaddy Purple Regular is a mostly indica hybrid, 60% Indica / 40% Sativa, from crossing Purple Urkle x Big Bud. It carries citrus, fruity and orange notes over a sweet, grape-and-berry base, with a strong, mostly indica body high. With a THC of 22% to 24%, it is a great choice for anyone after a strong, relaxing experience.

Origin

Grandaddy Purple Regular is a renowned indica-dominant hybrid created in 2003 by breeders in San Francisco, California. Its rich genetic lineage draws Mendocino Purple Kush through its Purple Urkle side, and Skunk #1 and Afghan heritage through Big Bud.

The Mendo Purps component gives it its distinct purple hues and berry-like aroma, a visually striking, aromatic strain. Grandaddy Purple Regular seeds are highly sought after for their robust growth and potent effects.

From Northern California, the strain quickly gained popularity for its impressive genetics. The Skunk side adds a strong, pungent aroma, while the Afghan lineage brings a powerful yet calming effect, high resin production and vigor. Together, those traits make it a favorite for growers and consumers after a reliable, potent experience.

Grandaddy Purple Regular Sativa or Indica?

Grandaddy Purple Regular has a mostly indica genetic makeup, 60% Indica / 40% Sativa. Expect a calming, soothing experience, ideal for relaxation and stress relief.

Its effects center on a serene body stone with a mellow mental euphoria. That small sativa influence keeps things balanced, for a well-rounded encounter that appeals to a wide range of preferences.

Grandaddy Purple Regular Effects

With its predominantly indica influence, Grandaddy Purple Regular delivers a blissful, sedative experience, a preferred choice for nighttime use. It leaves you happy and relaxed, with a soft, focused calm up top.

Its calming effects reach both body and mind, soothing and stress-relieving, and many turn to it for support with low mood, insomnia and muscle spasms. A unique, blissful experience for cannabis enthusiasts. Effects vary from person to person.

Germinating Grandaddy Purple Regular Seeds

It is important to germinate your Grandaddy Purple Regular seeds carefully if you want to have a healthy harvest from day one. Although there are several methods to germinate our Regular cannabis seeds, from Blimburn Seeds we recommend our customers to follow our easy and simple technique.

Before removing our Grandaddy Purple Regular seeds from their packaging, remember that cannabis seeds are alive and delicate. The PH of our hands full of bacteria can easily infect them and ruin our germination.

Set Up Your Germination Station: Begin by moistening two paper towels with room temperature water. Lay one paper towel on a plate and spread the seeds on it, spacing them about 2 cm apart. Place the second paper towel on top of the seeds, and make sure to remove any excess water from the plate. Cover the setup with another opaque plate and store it in a warm, dark location.

Monitoring: Make sure paper towels are still moist by checking every 4-6 hours and spraying room temperature water. Typically, germination should occur within 24 to 120 hours. Once the seeds have sprouted tap roots, plant them with the roots facing down and cover with about 2 cm of soil. Remember to water the soil regularly by spraying to keep it moist. It may take up to two weeks for the plants to start growing.

Ideal Conditions: Maintain a consistent temperature of 70-90ĀŗF in the germination area. Use purified room temperature bottled water with a pH level between 5.5 and 7. Keep the seeds away from light, allowing exposure for less than 1 minute before and during germination. Avoid touching the seeds or applying pressure to them.

Record Keeping: To qualify for the three month germination guarantee, it is necessary to follow all the steps outlined in our germination guidelines. Please do not use alternative germination methods, such as using a water bottle or planting directly into soil. Document the germination process through photography or video, as it will be requested when assessing claims for replacement products.

Grandaddy Purple Regular Seeds Flowering Time

For cultivators after a rewarding, efficient grow, Grandaddy Purple Regular stands out with its moderate flowering time. It completes flowering in approximately 8 to 10 weeks, for a timely, bountiful harvest.

These regular seeds bring consistency and premium genetics to the process. Whether you are experienced or a novice, that moderate flowering time makes Grandaddy Purple Regular an appealing choice for a successful, satisfying grow.

How To Grow Grandaddy Purple Regular Seeds?

Grandaddy Purple Regular seeds can be grown indoors or outdoors under optimal conditions. The plants are compact, robust, hardy and moderately easy to grow, though it is always worth guarding against pests. A few methods help retain and enhance the terpenes and flavors of your buds:

  • Use a quality substrate. Perlite, peat or coco coir are ideal for moisture retention.
  • In our customers’ experience with Grandaddy Purple Regular, good technique can increase yields by up to 20%.

For indoor cultivation, we advise wide, vertical spaces and the ScrOG method to obtain a uniform canopy and build up the lower flowers. Feed quality nutrients through the seedling, vegetative and flowering stages. Outdoors, choose a spot with the most direct sunlight; indoors, set up good tents, fabric pots, LED lighting, an air extractor and a carbon filter. Keep daytime temperatures between 68 and 80 ℉, and night temperatures 7 to 9 ℉ cooler than the day.

Grandaddy Purple Regular plants prefer low humidity: 55 to 60% in the vegetative phase, around 40% in flowering, and down to 30% by harvest.

Outdoors in the northern hemisphere, sow in April for a harvest in October, at about 7.05 to 14.11 oz per plant (200 to 400 g). Indoors, the cycle runs 8 to 10 weeks with yields of 1.47 to 1.97 oz/ft² (450 to 600 g/m²).

Ideal Climate for Cultivating

Grandaddy Purple Regular flourishes best in climates that mirror its native Californian environment: a dry, Mediterranean climate with mild temperatures most of the year and balmy, dry summers. It thrives between 70 and 80 ℉ (21 to 27 ā„ƒ), which promotes optimal growth. It is fairly resistant to cooler temperatures but truly thrives with ample sunlight and a constant, controlled climate.

In the United States, it is well suited to states with Mediterranean climates: California, Oregon and Washington on the west coast, and Florida, Georgia, South Carolina and North Carolina on the east.

These climates give Grandaddy Purple Regular seeds the environment to express their full genetic potential. By replicating the ideal conditions as closely as possible, growers can enjoy a fruitful harvest of this potent, aromatic strain.

What Does The Strain Smell Like?

The buds of Grandaddy Purple Regular are rock-hard, soaked in resin and often carry a crystalline sheen from the sheer amount of trichomes. On the palate it blends bright citrus and orange with its unmistakable aroma of sweet grape and dark berries, a fruity, dessert-like finish.

Grandaddy Purple Regular makes for a smooth, soft smoke and a strong, relaxing experience. Thanks to its heavy resin production, it is also an ideal strain for high-quality extracts and concentrates that capture its grape-and-citrus profile.

If you’re drawn to that zesty citrus-orange profile, Granddaddy Purple feminized is your next aromatic adventure.

Experiencing The Strain

With a THC of 22% to 24%, Grandaddy Purple Regular brings a happy, deeply relaxed state of body and mind. It leaves you cheerful and at ease, settling into a serene, comfortable body calm, perfect for the evening after a long day.

It is a mostly indica plant with a sturdy main stem that supports its satellite branches. It grows well indoors or outdoors, with a higher yield when it gets full outdoor sunshine.

Grandaddy Purple Regular Terpenes

Grandaddy Purple Regular has a compact three-terpene profile that pairs a bright citrus-orange lift with a soft, sedative base, matching both its flavor and its relaxing indica high.

Valencene leads the aroma, a sweet, zesty, orange-citrus note (the same terpene found in Valencia oranges) that defines the strain’s citrus and orange flavors. It is widely associated with a bright, uplifting quality, and here it adds the mood-lifting spark behind the strain’s use for low mood, balancing its heavier body effect.

Linalool brings a soft, floral sweetness that rounds out the fruity, grape-like character, widely linked to a calming, stress-easing quality that quiets an overactive mind. In this cultivar it drives the sedative, relaxing finish and sits behind the strain’s use for insomnia and muscle spasms.

Camphene adds an earthy, piney, slightly camphor-like note that grounds the profile. It is widely associated with soothing, warming properties, and here it reinforces the body relaxation behind the strain’s use for muscle spasms and physical tension.

Together these three shape a distinctive aroma: citrus-orange brightness up top (Valencene) over the sweet grape and dark-berry notes that come through from the strain’s Purple Urkle heritage, finished with a soft, earthy calm.

How To Grow Grandaddy Purple Regular

Read Now

Regular seeds are for growers who want the complete, authentic genetic experience, including the possibility of breeding their own new strains. Unlike feminized seeds, a pack of regular seeds will produce both male and female plants. This allows advanced cultivators to select a prized male (for its color, structure, or aroma) and use its pollen to create unique “purple” crosses.

Expect a classic, true Indica structure: short, extremely dense, and very compact. GDP is famous for being a small and robust plant with a dark green color and very broad, wide fan leaves. It develops a very thick main stem and incredibly sturdy side-branching. It does not stretch much, making it an ideal choice for growers with limited vertical space, small tents, or a Sea of Green (SOG) setup.

Because this plant grows so short and compact, it is the perfect candidate for a Sea of Green (SOG) setup. A SOG involves growing many small plants in small pots with a short vegetative time, focusing all the energy into a single, massive main cola from each plant. We do not recommend a ScrOG, as the plant does not stretch enough to fill a screen effectively.
