Lineage Critical Kush Strain
Critical Kush is a mostly indica hybrid, 65% Indica / 35% Sativa, from crossing Critical Mass x OG Kush. It carries an earthy, spicy flavor over a strong, mostly indica body high.
With a THC of 19% to 25%, it is a great choice for anyone after a strong, relaxing experience.
Origin
Critical Kush rose to fame after winning first place in the indoor hydroponics category at the Spannabis Champions Cup in 2015. It is known for superior genetics, the result of crossing OG Kush (a descendant of Chemdog 4 and Hindu Kush) with Critical+.
The Skunk #1 and Big Bud genetics within Critical+ give it a robust nature and exceptional performance. Its ability to produce dense, potent buds has made it a favorite among novice and experienced cultivators alike.
Critical Kush Awards
Critical Kush has proven itself at one of Europe’s most prestigious cannabis events. At Spannabis 2014 it took 3rd Place, Hydro Indoor, followed in 2015 by 1st Place, Hydro Indoor, confirming its performance under hydroponic indoor systems.
Those back-to-back podium finishes highlight Critical Kush’s genetic stability, high resin production, structural uniformity and consistent flower quality. Its success in the Hydro Indoor category reinforces its reputation as a reliable, high-yielding variety valued by professional and competition-level growers alike.
Critical Kush Strain Indica or Sativa
Critical Kush is a predominantly indica strain, 65% Indica / 35% Sativa, celebrated for its potent, relaxing effects. On the sativa-or-indica question it stands out as a quintessential indica, delivering a deep sense of relaxation and tranquility.
With its potent genetics, it is prized for a calming, sedative experience, a go-to for anyone seeking classic indica characteristics.
Critical Kush Strain Effects

Enthusiasts appreciate it for its soothing character, well suited to relaxation and stress relief. Effects vary from person to person.
Germinating Critical Kush Seeds
It is important to germinate your Critical Kush seeds carefully if you want to have a healthy harvest from day one. Although there are several methods to germinate our Feminized cannabis seeds, from Blimburn Seeds we recommend our customers to follow our easy and simple technique.
Before removing our Critical Kush seeds from their packaging, remember that cannabis seeds are alive and delicate. The PH of our hands full of bacteria can easily infect them and ruin our germination.
Set Up Your Germination Station: Begin by moistening two paper towels with room temperature water. Lay one paper towel on a plate and spread the seeds on it, spacing them about 2 cm apart. Place the second paper towel on top of the seeds, and make sure to remove any excess water from the plate. Cover the setup with another opaque plate and store it in a warm, dark location.
Monitoring: Make sure paper towels are still moist by checking every 4-6 hours and spraying room temperature water. Typically, germination should occur within 24 to 120 hours. Once the seeds have sprouted tap roots, plant them with the roots facing down and cover with about 2 cm of soil. Remember to water the soil regularly by spraying to keep it moist. It may take up to two weeks for the plants to start growing.
Ideal Conditions: Maintain a consistent temperature of 70-90ºF in the germination area. Use purified room temperature bottled water with a pH level between 5.5 and 7. Keep the seeds away from light, allowing exposure for less than 1 minute before and during germination. Avoid touching the seeds or applying pressure to them.
Record Keeping: To qualify for the three month germination guarantee, it is necessary to follow all the steps outlined in our germination guidelines. Please do not use alternative germination methods, such as using a water bottle or planting directly into soil. Document the germination process through photography or video, as it will be requested when assessing claims for replacement products.
Critical Kush Seeds Flowering Time
Critical Kush impresses growers with an efficient flowering time of 8 to 10 weeks. In that relatively short period the plant produces dense, resinous buds. That swift turnaround is a valuable trait for cultivators looking to optimize their harvest schedule, making Critical Kush a practical, rewarding choice for anyone who prioritizes efficiency.
Critical Kush Strain Harvest Month
Outdoors, Critical Kush reaches a moderate height of around 39 to 59 in (1 to 1.5 m), suitable for discreet cultivation. The harvest typically falls in October, giving cultivators the chance to reap the rewards before colder weather arrives. That timing aligns with the end of the outdoor growing season in many regions, for a successful, timely harvest.
Grow Critical Kush and enjoy a strain that combines impressive flowering efficiency with the therapeutic character of its Critical and OG Kush lineage.
How To Grow Critical Kush Seeds?
Critical Kush seeds can be grown indoors or outdoors under optimal conditions. The plants are compact, robust, hardy and moderately easy to grow, though it is always worth guarding against pests. A few methods help retain and enhance the terpenes and flavors of your buds:
- Use a quality substrate. Perlite, peat or coco coir are ideal for moisture retention.
- In our customers’ experience with Critical Kush, good technique can increase yields by up to 20%.
For indoor cultivation, we advise wide, vertical spaces and the ScrOG method to obtain a uniform canopy and build up the lower flowers. Feed quality nutrients through the seedling, vegetative and flowering stages. Outdoors, choose a spot with the most direct sunlight; indoors, set up good tents, fabric pots, LED lighting, an air extractor and a carbon filter. Keep daytime temperatures between 68 and 80 ℉, and night temperatures 7 to 9 ℉ cooler than the day.
Feminized plants prefer low humidity: 55 to 60% in the vegetative phase, around 40% in flowering, and down to 30% by harvest.
Outdoors in the northern hemisphere, sow in April for a harvest in mid-October, at about 21.16 oz per plant (600 g). Indoors, the cycle runs 8 to 10 weeks with yields of 1.64 to 1.8 oz/ft² (500 to 550 g/m²).
Ideal Climate for Growing
Critical Kush flourishes in Mediterranean or temperate climates, with warm springs and summers and a mild autumn. The ideal range is 70 to 85 ℉ (21 to 29 ℃), which supports sturdy growth. It is highly adaptable, performing from sea level up to around 2,000 meters, though it excels with consistent sunlight at lower altitudes. Annual rainfall of 15 to 30 inches (380 to 760 mm) with well-drained soil is ideal to avoid root rot.
In the United States, well-suited states include California, Georgia, Arizona, Texas, Nevada, Florida, North Carolina, Washington, Oregon and Tennessee, whose climates let growers make the most of the strain’s genetics.
For anyone looking to maximize yield with robust, quality seeds, Critical Kush delivers on both quantity and quality. A better climate and attentive care go hand in hand with better growth.
What Does The Strain Smell Like?
The buds of Critical Kush are rock-hard, soaked in resin and often carry a crystalline sheen from the sheer amount of trichomes. On the palate it leans deep and earthy, with a warm, peppery, spicy edge, the classic character of its OG Kush and Critical lineage.
Critical Kush makes for a smooth, soft smoke and a strong, relaxing experience. Thanks to its heavy resin production, it is also an ideal strain for high-quality extracts and concentrates that capture its earthy, spicy profile.
Experiencing The Strain
With a THC of 19% to 25%, Critical Kush brings a happy, relaxed and talkative state of body and mind, backed by a genuinely potent, award-winning pedigree. It leaves you cheerful and at ease, settling into a comfortable body calm, perfect for the evening after a long day.
It is a mostly indica plant with a sturdy main stem that supports its satellite branches. It grows well indoors or outdoors, with a higher yield when it gets full outdoor sunshine.
Critical Kush seeds are a mostly indica strain with a flowering period of 8 to 10 weeks. Feeding the right nutrients at each stage helps develop resinous buds and trichomes.
Critical Kush Strain Terpenes
Critical Kush carries an exceptionally broad terpene profile, deeply earthy and spicy, that mirrors both its OG Kush flavor and its relaxing indica high, with four terpenes doing most of the work.
Myrcene is the backbone of the profile, a ripe, earthy-musky note that gives the smoke its weight. It is widely associated with a deeply relaxing, muscle-softening quality, and here it drives the heavy body calm and sits behind the strain’s use for insomnia and everyday pain.
Caryophyllene adds a warm, peppery spice that defines the spicy side of the flavor. It is the one terpene that interacts with the body’s CB2 receptors and is widely tied to calming, anti-inflammatory properties, central here to the relief many seek for arthritis, joint tension and pain.
Humulene brings a dry, earthy, hoppy, woody depth that anchors the earthy base alongside the Caryophyllene. It is widely linked to soothing, anti-inflammatory qualities, reinforcing the body-easing character behind the strain’s use for arthritis and physical tension.
Linalool rounds things off with a soft, floral sweetness, widely linked to a calming, stress-easing quality that quiets an overactive mind. It works alongside the Myrcene to deepen the sedative finish and supports the strain’s use against insomnia.
Rounding out this unusually deep profile, Eugenol adds clove-like spice, Alpha-Pinene crisp pine, Limonene and Citral a bright citrus lift, Terpinolene and Farnesene fresh fruity-green accents, and Borneol, Camphene, Fenchol, Terpineol, Nerolidol, Alpha-Cedrene, Cadinene and Phytol a range of cool, woody, camphor-like and herbal undertones that complete the aroma.
