Lineage Black Jack Strain
Black Jack is a mostly indica hybrid, 55% Indica / 45% Sativa, from crossing Black Domina x Jack Herer. It carries a citrus, pine, sweet and woody flavor over a strong, mostly indica body relaxation.
With a Medium THC of 15% to 19%, it is a great choice for anyone after a strong, relaxing experience.
Origin
Black Jack is the result of a cross between two legendary varieties: Black Domina and Jack Herer. Black Domina, known for its potent indica qualities, blends seamlessly with the balanced sativa traits of Jack Herer, creating a strain with a rich genetic heritage.
Its lineage runs through iconic genetics such as Skunk #1, OG Kush, Haze and Northern Lights. Black Jack seeds inherit a diverse, robust background, which makes the strain a favorite among growers and cannabis enthusiasts alike.
Black Jack Strain Awards
Black Jack earned 3rd Place, Best Flower at the Emerald Cup 2019, one of the most prestigious and competitive cannabis events in the industry. A podium finish in the Best Flower category speaks to its bud structure, terpene richness, resin coverage and overall cultivation performance under expert judging.
The recognition points to Black Jackās genetic stability and flower quality, with consistent cannabinoid expression and reliable results. Its award-winning track record reinforces its standing as a high-caliber hybrid valued for both yield and connoisseur-grade quality.
Black Jack Sativa or Indica?
Black Jack leans to the indica side of the spectrum, 55% Indica / 45% Sativa. Its indica genetics come largely from the Black Domina parent, giving it the classic indica traits: a relaxing body high and the potential for deep physical relaxation.
For all its indica lean, it keeps subtle sativa traits from Jack Herer that add a mild cerebral uplift. That balance makes Black Jack an excellent choice for anyone after a strain that calms the body while keeping the mind lightly engaged.
Black Jack Effects
The effects of Black Jack blend deep relaxation with a light head lift. As an indica-dominant hybrid, it offers a soothing body high, ideal for unwinding after a long day, while its Jack Herer side adds a gentle mental brightness that keeps things from turning heavy. It also tends to rouse the appetite, so expect a case of the munchies.
Users often report feelings of happiness and calm, which makes Black Jack suitable for both recreational and therapeutic use. Many also turn to it for support with stress, low mood and restless sleep. Effects vary from person to person.
Germinating Black Jack Seeds
It is important to germinate your Black Jack seeds carefully if you want to have a healthy harvest from day one. Although there are several methods to germinate our Feminized cannabis seeds, from Blimburn Seeds we recommend our customers to follow our easy and simple technique.
Before removing our Black Jack seeds from their packaging, remember that cannabis seeds are alive and delicate. The PH of our hands full of bacteria can easily infect them and ruin our germination.
Set Up Your Germination Station: Begin by moistening two paper towels with room temperature water. Lay one paper towel on a plate and spread the seeds on it, spacing them about 2 cm apart.
Place the second paper towel on top of the seeds, and make sure to remove any excess water from the plate. Cover the setup with another opaque plate and store it in a warm, dark location.
Monitoring: Make sure paper towels are still moist by checking every 4-6 hours and spraying room temperature water. Typically, germination should occur within 24 to 120 hours.
Once the seeds have sprouted tap roots, plant them with the roots facing down and cover with about 2 cm of soil. Remember to water the soil regularly by spraying to keep it moist. It may take up to two weeks for the plants to start growing.
Ideal Conditions: Maintain a consistent temperature of 69.8 ĀŗF ā 78.8 ĀŗF (21 ĀŗC ā 26 ĀŗC) in the germination area. Use purified room temperature bottled water with a pH level between 5.5 and 6.5.
Keep the seeds away from light, allowing exposure for less than 1 minute before and during germination. Avoid touching the seeds or applying pressure to them.
Record Keeping: To qualify for the three month germination guarantee, it is necessary to follow all the steps outlined in our germination guidelines.
Please do not use alternative germination methods, such as using a water bottle or planting directly into soil. Document the germination process through photography or video, as it will be requested when assessing claims for replacement products.
Black Jack Flowering Time
One of the highlights of Black Jack seeds is their manageable flowering time, a big part of their popularity. The strain typically flowers in 8 to 10 weeks, striking a good balance between speed and yield, and that relatively short cycle allows for several harvests a year under ideal conditions.
Growers appreciate its resilience and the dense, resin-coated buds it produces. Indoors or outdoors, Black Jack rewards patience with a bountiful yield that reflects its robust genetic heritage and consistent performance.
How to Grow Black Jack strain?
Black Jack seeds can be grown indoors or outdoors under optimal conditions, which helps avoid problems during development. The plants are compact, robust, hardy and moderately easy to grow, though it is always worth guarding against pests.
A few methods help retain and enhance the terpenes and flavors of your Black Jack buds:
- Use a quality substrate. Perlite, peat or coco coir are ideal for moisture retention.
- In our customersā experience with Black Jack seeds, good technique can increase yields by up to 20%.
For optimal indoor cultivation, Blimburn Seeds advises wide, vertical spaces and the ScrOG method to build a uniform canopy and increase the size of the lower flowers. If you plan to grow these feminized seeds outdoors, we have developed a grow guide for optimal cultivation in any part of the world.
Our plants need good nutrients at every stage, from seedling through the vegetative and flowering periods. When growing outdoors, choose the best date for your crop and a spot where the plants get the most hours of sunshine. Indoors, set up good tents, fabric pots, LED lighting, an air extractor to circulate clean air and a quality carbon filter to avoid problems with neighbors or the law.
Keep daytime temperatures between 68 and 80 ā, and night temperatures 7 to 9 ā cooler than the day. Black Jack feminized plants thrive in low humidity: keep RH at 55 to 60% during the vegetative phase, reduce it to around 40% in flowering, and down to 30% by harvest.
Outdoors, growers in the northern hemisphere should sow in April for harvest in mid-October. Healthy Black Jack seeds produce about 7.05 to 15.87 oz per plant (200 to 450 g). Indoors, the cycle runs 8 to 10 weeks with yields of about 1.47 to 1.64 oz/ft² (450 to 500 g/m²).
Ideal Climate for Growing
Black Jack flourishes in a temperate climate, an excellent choice for outdoor cultivation. The ideal range for this variety is 70 to 80 ā (21 to 27 ā); consistent daytime warmth and cool evenings drive robust growth and rich flavor. It can also thrive where rainfall is well distributed, though good drainage is crucial to avoid waterlogged roots that would hinder development.
In the United States, states with the ideal climate for Black Jack include California, Colorado, Oregon, Nevada and Florida, all with long sunlight hours and generally favorable weather through the season. Growers in these areas can expect a thriving crop with high yields and potent effects. With the right location and steady temperatures, a successful harvest is well within reach.
What does the Strain Smell Like?
The buds of Black Jack are rock-hard, soaked in resin and often carry a crystalline sheen from the sheer amount of trichomes. On the palate it blends bright citrus and crisp pine with a sweet, woody base, a layered flavor drawn straight from its Black Domina and Jack Herer roots.
It makes for a smooth, soft smoke and a strong, relaxing experience. Thanks to its heavy resin production, it is also an ideal strain for high-quality extracts and concentrates that capture its citrus-pine, sweet-woody character.
Experiencing the Strain
With a Medium THC of 15% to 19%, Black Jack brings a happy, relaxed state of mind, usually with a rise in appetite, so keep a snack nearby. It is a great strain to unwind, leaving you cheerful and at ease.
It is ideal in the evening after a long day. A mostly indica plant with a sturdy main stem that supports its satellite branches, it grows well indoors or outdoors, with a higher yield when it gets full outdoor sunshine.
Black Jack is a mostly indica strain that takes about 8 to 10 weeks from germination to harvest. Feeding the right nutrients at each stage helps develop resinous buds and trichomes.
Black Jack Strain Terpenes
Black Jack carries a five-terpene profile ā Caryophyllene, Humulene, Linalool, Myrcene and Alpha-Pinene ā behind its citrus, pine, sweet and woody character and its relaxed, happy, appetite-rousing high, with four terpenes leading the way.
Caryophyllene anchors the profile with a warm, peppery spice that grounds the woody side of the aroma and gives it backbone. It is the one common terpene that interacts with the body’s CB2 receptors, which is why it is so widely tied to a calming, tension-easing quality. In Black Jack that grounding note is central to the relief many look for when turning to this strain for muscle spasms and deep physical tension.
Myrcene brings an earthy, musky sweetness that rounds out the base and softens the whole bouquet. It is the terpene most widely associated with a deeply relaxing, sedative quality, the kind that eases the body toward rest. Here it drives the heavy, settled calm and underpins the strain’s appeal for insomnia and winding down at the end of the day.
Linalool adds a soft, floral sweetness that lifts the sweeter side of the profile. It is widely tied to a calming, stress-easing quality that helps quiet a restless, overactive mind. In this cultivar it works alongside Myrcene to coax the body toward rest, reinforcing the relief sought for insomnia and nervous tension.
Alpha-Pinene rounds out the lead with a crisp, fresh pine note that defines the piney side of the aroma and keeps it lively. It is widely associated with mental clarity and a light sense of alertness, the quality that carries over from the Jack Herer side of the genetics. That clear-headed lift keeps Black Jack from turning purely sedative and ties into the brighter mood many seek against low spirits.
Rounding out the profile, Humulene adds an earthy, hoppy, woody depth that reinforces the grounded base and the soothing, composed side of the effect.
