Lineage Cherry Pie Strain
Cherry Pie is an indica-leaning hybrid, known for distinctive genetics that trace back to a cross between (Grand Daddy Purple x Durban Poison) x Gelato (Sunset Sherbet x Thin Mint Cookie). The GDP lineage delivers its soothing indica traits, while the Durban Poison heritage adds a touch of sativa energy.
The Gelato genetics make our Cherry Pie a bit unusual and set it apart from other cherry pies on the market. Thanks to this blend, it offers a well-rounded hybrid experience (60% Indica / 40% Sativa), combining relaxing, happy and talkative effects with a subtle uplifting buzz.
Expect blueberry, earthy and sweet flavors with a strong, mostly Indica body high.
Origin
Cherry Pie originates from a blend of South African sativa genetics from Durban and American varieties, combined with European strains developed in Amsterdam. This mix gives Cherry Pie seeds their distinctive properties and robust growth.
The strain has earned recognition in the cannabis community, notably taking 3rd place for Best Medical Sativa at a 2014 competition in Denver, a nod to its standing among enthusiasts and medical users alike.
Cherry Pie Strain Sativa or Indica?
Cherry Pie leans predominantly toward Indica (60% Indica / 40% Sativa), offering a calming yet euphoric experience. Its indica dominance ensures a relaxed body high, perfect for stress relief and tranquility, while the sativa side keeps the effect mentally uplifting rather than heavy.
The result is a nice balance of peaceful mind and physical comfort. For cultivators, Cherry Pie seeds offer genetic stability, which matters for consistent yields and premium-quality harvests.
Effects
Cherry Pie is celebrated for its happy, relaxed and talkative effect. Its indica-dominant side induces a calm, tranquil mental state that can help ease stress and muscle spasms, while the uplifting lift keeps conversation and good mood flowing, which also makes it a reasonable pick for daytime fatigue.
These consistent effects have made Cherry Pie a favorite among both recreational and medicinal users. Its ability to provide deep relaxation without overwhelming sedation makes it suitable for a wide range of occasions and activities.
Germinating Cherry Pie Strain
It is important to germinate your Cherry Pie OG weed carefully if you want to have a healthy harvest from day one. Although there are several methods to germinate our Feminized cannabis seeds, at Blimburn Seeds, we recommend our customers to follow our easy and simple technique.
Before removing our Cherry PieĀ seeds from their packaging, remember that cannabis seeds are alive and delicate. Hands can be full of bacteria that can easily infect seeds and ruin the germination process.
Set Up Your Germination Station: Begin by moistening two paper towels with room temperature water. Lay one paper towel on a plate and spread the seeds on it, spacing them about 2 cm apart. Place the second paper towel on top of the seeds, and make sure to remove any excess water from the plate. Cover the setup with another opaque plate and store it in a warm, dark location.
Monitoring: Make sure paper towels are still moist by checking every 4-6 hours and spraying room temperature water. Typically, germination should occur within 24 to 120 hours. Once the seeds have sprouted tap roots, plant them with the roots facing down and cover with about 2 cm of soil. Remember to water the soil regularly by spraying to keep it moist. It may take up to two weeks for the plants to start growing.
Ideal Conditions: Maintain a consistent temperature of 70-90ĀŗF in the germination area. Use purified room temperature bottled water with a pH level between 5.5 and 7. Keep the seeds away from light, allowing exposure for less than 1 minute before and during germination. Avoid touching the seeds or applying pressure to them.
Record Keeping: To qualify for the three month germination guarantee, it is necessary to follow all the steps outlined in our germination guidelines. Please do not use alternative germination methods, such as using a water bottle or planting directly into soil. Document the germination process through photography or video, as it will be requested when assessing claims for replacement products.
Cherry Pie Seeds Flowering Time
Cherry Pie’s flowering time matters for cultivators aiming for optimal yields. This mostly Indica hybrid has a moderate flowering period of 8 to 10 weeks, and its efficient cycle lets growers plan their harvests effectively for a timely, productive grow.
Whether you are an experienced cultivator or a novice, Cherry Pie’s manageable flowering time, combined with its calming yet talkative effects and stable genetics, makes it a valuable addition to any garden for both growers and consumers alike.
How to Grow Cherry Pie Strain?
Cherry Pie seeds can be grown indoors or outdoors under optimal conditions, to avoid any problems during their development. Although they are moderately easy to grow and hardy, always do your best to prevent pests. You can use different growing methods to retain and enhance the terpenes and flavors of your feminized Cherry Pie buds.
- Use a quality substrate. Perlite, peat, or coco coir are ideal for moisture retention.
- Thanks to the experience of our customers with our feminized Cherry Pie seeds, we know that we can increase yields by up to 20%.
For optimal indoor cultivation, Blimburn Seeds advises wide, vertical spaces and the use of the ScrOG method to obtain a uniform canopy and increase the size of the lower flowers. If you plan to grow our feminized seeds outdoors, we have also developed a grow guide for optimal cultivation in any area of the world.
Remember that our plants also need good nutrients as seedlings, in their vegetative period and in their flowering period.
When growing outdoors, choose the best date for your crop and a place where the plants receive the most hours of sunshine. If you prefer to grow indoors, use good tents, textile pots, LED lighting, an air extractor to circulate clean air and, of course, a good carbon filter to avoid problems with neighbors or the law.
Keep daytime temperatures between 68-80 ā and nighttime temperatures 7 to 9 ā cooler than the day.
Feminized Cherry Pie plants need low humidity to thrive. Keep relative humidity (RH) at 55%-60% during the vegetative phase, reduce it to around 40% during flowering and to about 30% by harvest.
Outdoors, growers in the Northern Hemisphere should sow in spring to harvest around October. Healthy feminized Cherry Pie seeds produce about 15.87 – 19.4 oz/plant | 450 – 550 g/plant of buds each.
Indoors, these crops have a flowering time of 8 – 10 weeks and produce about 1.15 – 1.64 oz/ft² | 350 – 500 gr/m².
Ideal Climate for Growing
For optimal cultivation, Cherry Pie favors a Mediterranean or temperate climate with gentle warmth and consistent sunlight. It thrives at temperatures between 70-85 ā (21-29 ā), which promote the healthiest growth and the fullest expression of its fruity flavor profile. Cherry Pie prefers well-draining soil and annual precipitation of 15-30 inches (380-760 mm) to prevent root rot.
Across the United States, warm and moderate states such as California, Nevada, Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, Georgia, South Carolina, Florida and Louisiana suit Cherry Pie well. Coastal states like Oregon and Washington also offer an ideal climate thanks to their mild autumns. By choosing the right location and maintaining the right temperature, growers can secure a bountiful harvest of this sweet, satisfying strain.
What does the Cherry Pie Strain Smell Like?
The buds of Cherry Pie are rock hard, soaked in resin and carry a crystalline sheen from the sheer amount of trichomes.
Its taste is a blend of blueberry, earthy and sweet notes, with an aroma that genuinely recalls freshly baked cherry pie: tart fruit, sweet dough and an earthy undertone.
Cherry Pie makes a delicious, smooth smoke and delivers a strong, relaxing experience. Thanks to its large resin production, it is also an ideal strain for high quality extracts and concentrates.

Cherry Pie Terpenes
Cherry Pie carries a dessert-like aroma of blueberry, sweet dough and earth, built on a profile of six terpenes, led by four dominant players that shape both its scent and its happy, relaxed effect.
Myrcene forms the earthy, musky-sweet base of the aroma. The most common cannabis terpene, it is closely tied to body relaxation and drives the calm, comfortable feel at the heart of this strain.
Caryophyllene adds a warm, peppery spice and is the only terpene known to bind the body’s CB2 receptors, widely linked to easing tension and supporting the strain’s use for stress.
Linalool contributes a soft floral sweetness that rounds out the dessert character and helps soothe the nervous system, reinforcing the relaxed, easygoing mood.
Alpha-Pinene brings a fresh pine note tied to clarity and focus, keeping the mind bright and sociable so the relaxation stays talkative rather than sedating.
Rounding things out, Humulene adds an earthy, hoppy warmth and Terpinolene a fresh, uplifting lift, giving Cherry Pie a blueberry, earthy and sweet aroma paired with a happy, relaxed and talkative effect.

Expect a vigorous, medium-to-tall plant with a classic Sativa-leaning hybrid structure. It is not a compact plant. It grows with a very strong main cola and numerous long, elegant side-branches, inheriting the open, airy structure of its Durban Poison parent. This makes it a great candidate for training to maximize light exposure.
Yes, absolutely! Thanks to its Granddaddy Purple lineage, many phenotypes, especially when exposed to slightly cooler nighttime temperatures late in the flowering stage, will develop beautiful deep purple and magenta hues on the sugar leaves and throughout the buds. This creates a stunning contrast with its bright orange pistils and heavy resin coating.
It can be moderately challenging for a first-time grower. While it is very resilient to mold and pests, its Sativa-dominant structure requires proactive management to control its height. Beginners will need to be prepared to train it with techniques like topping or LST (Low-Stress Training) to prevent it from outgrowing their indoor space.
To manage its significant vertical stretch and maximize yields, topping the plant during the vegetative stage is highly recommended to create a wider, more even canopy. Its long and flexible branches make it an absolutely perfect candidate for a ScrOG (Screen of Green) setup. By weaving the branches through the net, you can control its height and create a massive, flat plane of beautiful, cherry-pie-scented colas.
