Lineage Blue Cheese Strain

Blue Cheese seeds, from the cross of Blueberry and UK Cheese, produce a mostly Indica hybrid (80% Indica / 20% Sativa). It tends to show a cheesy, fruity, spicy and sweet flavor with a strong, indica-leaning body high.

It also carries a Medium THC of 16% – 20%, making it a great option for anyone looking for a strong, relaxing experience. With Blueberry as a parent, the strain is world-renowned for the beautiful blue and purple hues it develops in its buds and leaves.

Origin

Blue Cheese originated in Europe, combining the best of American and European cannabis genetics. It was created by crossing Blueberry, an indica-dominant strain from Oregon with roots in Afghan Kush, Thai and Purple Thai, with Cheese, a famous UK hybrid with Skunk #1 heritage. The result is a strain known for its unique flavor and potent effects.

Blue Cheese seeds are popular among growers for their stable growth and high yields. That blend of Blueberry and UK Cheese has made it a favorite in the cannabis community, earning recognition at the High Times Cannabis Cup.

Blue Cheese Strain Awards

Blue Cheese earned 3rd Place for Best Flower at the 2006 High Times Cannabis Cup, a distinction that highlighted its exceptional terpene profile, dense bud structure and unmistakable sweet-and-savory aroma. That podium finish reinforced its status as a standout cultivar in the European cannabis scene.

That recognition, alongside its consistent quality and strong appeal among judges and connoisseurs, has cemented Blue Cheese’s reputation as a benchmark indica-dominant strain.

Blue Cheese Sativa o Indica?

Blue Cheese is primarily an Indica strain (80% Indica / 20% Sativa), with genetics that lean firmly toward relaxation and tranquility.

For anyone looking for a pronounced indica profile, Blue Cheese offers a powerful, calming experience, a deeply relaxing high that is a natural fit for unwinding and settling into a mellow, comfortable calm.

Effects of Blue Cheese Strain

Germination Blue Cheese Seeds

It is important to carefully germinate your Blue Cheese cannabis seeds if you want to have a healthy harvest from day one. Although there are several methods to germinate our Feminized marijuana seeds, at Blimburn Seeds we recommend our clients follow our easy and simple technique.

Before you take our Blue Cheese cannabis seeds out of their packaging, remember that cannabis seeds are alive and delicate. The PH of our hands full of bacteria can easily infect them and ruin our germination.

Set Up Your Germination Station: Begin by moistening two paper towels with room temperature water. Lay one paper towel on a plate and spread the seeds on it, spacing them about 2 cm apart. Place the second paper towel on top of the seeds, and make sure to remove any excess water from the plate. Cover the setup with another opaque plate and store it in a warm, dark location.

Monitoring: Make sure paper towels are still moist by checking every 4-6 hours and spraying room temperature water. Typically, germination should occur within 24 to 120 hours. Once the seeds have sprouted tap roots, plant them with the roots facing down and cover with about 2 cm of soil. Remember to water the soil regularly by spraying to keep it moist. It may take up to two weeks for the plants to start growing.

Ideal Conditions: Maintain a consistent temperature of 69.8 ĀŗF – 78.8 ĀŗF (21 ĀŗC – 26 ĀŗC) in the germination area. Use purified room temperature bottled water with a pH level between 5.5 and 6.5. Keep the seeds away from light, allowing exposure for less than 1 minute before and during germination. Avoid touching the seeds or applying pressure to them.

Record Keeping: To qualify for the three month germination guarantee, it is necessary to follow all the steps outlined in our germination guidelines. Please do not use alternative germination methods, such as using a water bottle or planting directly into soil. Document the germination process through photography or video, as it will be requested when assessing claims for replacement products.

Blue Cheese Seeds flowering time

For growers drawn to Blue Cheese, knowing its flowering time is important. With a moderate flowering period, typically 8 to 9 weeks, the strain shows efficient growth and development.

During this phase, growers can expect dense, resinous buds that showcase the strain’s unique character, often with the beautiful blue and purple hues it is named for. That manageable flowering window is a key part of a satisfying, rewarding harvest.

How to grow marijuana Blue Cheese Weed Strain?

Feminized Blue Cheese seeds can be grown indoors or outdoors under optimal conditions, to avoid any problems during their development. Although they are fairly easy to grow and resistant, we must always prevent any pests. You can use different growing methods to retain and enhance the terpenes and flavors of your Blue Cheese buds.

  • Use a quality substrate. Perlite, peat moss or coconut fiber are ideal for retaining moisture.
  • Thanks to our customers’ experience with our Feminized Blue Cheese seeds, we know that we can increase yields by up to 20%.

For optimal indoor cultivation, Blimburn Seeds recommends wide, vertical spaces and the use of the ScrOG method to obtain a uniform canopy and increase the size of the lower flowers. If you plan to grow our Feminized seeds outdoors, we have developed a grow guide for optimal cultivation in any area of the world.

Remember that our cannabis plants also need good nutrients as seedlings, in their vegetative period and finally in their flowering period. When growing outdoors, choose the best date for your crop and a place where the plants receive the most hours of sun.

If you prefer to grow indoors, use good tents, textile pots, LED lighting, an air extractor to circulate clean air and, of course, a good carbon filter to avoid problems with neighbors or the law. Keep daytime temperatures between 68-80 ℉ and nighttime temperatures 7 to 9 ℉ cooler than the day.

These plants need low humidity to thrive. Keep relative humidity (RH) at 55%-60% during the vegetative phase, reduce it to around 40% during flowering and to about 30% by harvest.

Outdoors, growers in the northern hemisphere should sow their cannabis seeds in spring for harvest in September. Healthy Feminized Blue Cheese seeds produce about 21 oz/plant | 600 gr/plant of buds each.

Indoors, these crops have a flowering time of 8 – 9 weeks and produce around 1.64 – 1.8 oz/ft² | 500 – 550 gr/m².

Ideal Climate for Growing

Blue Cheese thrives in a temperate climate with mild to warm, dry conditions, true to its Blueberry and UK Cheese heritage. It grows best in a comfortable temperature range of 65-80 ℉ (18-27 ā„ƒ), and it handles cooler climates well, but high humidity should be avoided: this variety is susceptible to mold and fungus, so good airflow and well-draining soil are essential to prevent waterlogged conditions.

In the United States, states that suit Blue Cheese well include Washington, Oregon, Northern California, Michigan and Maine, and even the cooler regions of Alaska can work thanks to the strain’s short flowering time and September harvest. Growers in these temperate areas report excellent results by keeping humidity in check and matching the strain’s needs, yielding a dense, high-quality crop with the strain’s signature blue and purple hues.

What does strain smell like?

Its taste and aroma are a combination of cheese, fruity, spicy and sweet notes: an unmistakable scent of sour, funky blue cheese mixed with sweet blueberry muffin. That mix of “stinky” and “sweet” is exactly what makes it unique. Blue Cheese produces a smooth, delicious smoke and a strong, relaxing experience. Thanks to its high resin production, it is an ideal variety for high quality extracts and concentrates.

Blue Cheese strain terpenes

Blue Cheese is unmistakable: a sour, funky blue-cheese aroma laced with sweet blueberry muffin, over a spicy, fruity base, a fusion of its Blueberry and UK Cheese parents. Its eight-terpene profile shapes both that scent and its calming, happy and relaxed effect.

Myrcene leads with a sweet, fruity, earthy depth that carries both the blueberry sweetness and the funky cheese undertone. As the terpene most tied to relaxation and sleep, it drives the heavy, calming body feel behind Blue Cheese’s indica-dominant high and its use for insomnia.

Caryophyllene adds a warm, peppery spice that sharpens the savory, cheesy edge. The only terpene known to bind the body’s CB2 receptors, it is widely linked to easing tension and supports the strain’s use for anxiety.

Humulene brings an earthy, hoppy, savory warmth that deepens the funky cheese character. Often tied to a grounded, balancing feel, it complements the relaxed body effect.

Linalool contributes a soft floral, lavender-like layer widely associated with a calming, mood-settling feel, deepening the relaxation and helping ease low mood.

Rounded out by soothing Caryophyllene Oxide, fresh Alpha- and Beta-Pinene and piney Delta-3-Carene, these terpenes give Blue Cheese its signature funky-cheese-and-blueberry aroma paired with a calming, happy and relaxed effect made for the evening.

How To Grow Blue Cheese

Yes, absolutely! This is the signature visual trait of the “Blue” in its name. Thanks to its Blueberry lineage, many phenotypes, especially when exposed to slightly cooler nighttime temperatures during the final weeks of flowering, will develop a stunning array of deep blue, lavender, and rich purple hues throughout the buds and sugar leaves. This creates a breathtaking contrast with its thick coating of frosty white trichomes.

It is an absolutely fantastic choice for beginners. Blue Cheese is legendary for its resilience and ease of growth. It is incredibly forgiving of common mistakes, naturally resistant to pests and mold, and its manageable, bushy structure makes it easy to cultivate. It reliably produces top-shelf, beautiful, and delicious cannabis with very little effort.

Yes, humidity control is paramount. The buds of Blue Cheese are exceptionally dense, large, and rock-hard. While this is fantastic for your final yield, it creates a high-risk environment for bud rot if humidity is not managed. Maintaining low humidity (under 45% RH) and providing very strong air circulation during the second half of flowering is absolutely critical to protect your pungent, beautiful harvest.
