Lineage Northern Critical Seeds
Northern Critical is a mostly indica hybrid, 60% Indica / 40% Sativa, from crossing Northern Lights with Critical+. It carries a citrus, fruity, incense-like and sweet flavor over a strong, mostly indica body high.
With a THC of 15% to 18%, it is a great choice for anyone after a strong, relaxing experience.
Origin
Northern Critical is an indica-dominant feminized strain crossing the classic Northern Lights with Critical+, developed to enhance its therapeutic qualities and robust growth.
Its genetics have been stabilized over successive generations for consistent quality and reliable performance, which is a big part of why the strain is so well regarded by growers and users alike.
Northern Critical Sativa or Indica?
Northern Critical is predominantly indica, 60% Indica / 40% Sativa. True to that, it delivers relaxing, calming effects and a deeply soothing experience, perfect for evening use or unwinding after a long day.
It also shows classic indica traits, dense, resinous buds and broad leaves, which, with its potent effects, confirm its indica dominance. Expect a tranquil, body-focused experience that eases stress and promotes restful sleep, a popular choice for physical and mental relaxation alike.
Northern Critical Strain Effects
The effects of Northern Critical are primarily relaxing and sedative, with a comforting body high that eases muscle tension and settles the mind. Many also turn to it for support with fatigue, muscle spasms and stress, and report a profound sense of calm, which makes it especially suited to evening use and a more restful, uninterrupted sleep.
It is also known for easing physical discomfort, offering soothing relief from everyday aches and inflammation. That comprehensive relaxation makes it a popular choice for mental and physical relief, perfect for unwinding after a busy day. Effects vary from person to person.
Germinating Northern Critical seeds
It is important to germinate your weed seeds carefully if you want to have a healthy harvest from day one. Although there are several methods to germinate our Feminized cannabis seeds, at Blimburn Seeds, we recommend our customers to follow our easy and simple technique. Before removing ourĀ Northern CriticalĀ seeds from their packaging, remember that cannabis seeds are alive and delicate. Our hands are full of bacteria that can easily infect seeds and ruin our germination.
Set Up Your Germination Station:Ā Begin by moistening two paper towels with room temperature water. Lay one paper towel on a plate and spread the seeds on it, spacing them about 2 cm apart. Place the second paper towel on top of the seeds, and make sure to remove any excess water from the plate. Cover the setup with another opaque plate and store it in a warm, dark location.
Monitoring: Make sure paper towels are still moist by checking every 4-6 hours and spraying room temperature water. Typically, germination should occur within 24 to 120 hours. Once the seeds have sprouted tap roots, plant them with the roots facing down and cover with about 2 cm of soil. Remember to water the soil regularly by spraying to keep it moist. It may take up to two weeks for the plants to start growing.
Ideal Conditions: Maintain a consistent temperature of 69.8 ĀŗF ā 78.8 ĀŗF (21 ĀŗC ā 26 ĀŗC) in the germination area. Use purified room temperature bottled water with a pH level between 5.5 and 6.5. Keep the seeds away from light, allowing exposure for less than 1 minute before and during germination. Avoid touching the seeds or applying pressure to them.
Record Keeping:Ā To qualify for the three-month germination guarantee, it is necessary to follow all the steps outlined in ourĀ germination guidelines. Please do not useĀ alternative germination methods, such as using a water bottle or planting directly into soil. Document the germination process through photography or video, as it will be requested when assessing claims for replacement products.
Northern Critical Strain Flowering Time
Northern Critical has a relatively short flowering time, typically 8 to 10 weeks. That window lets the plant fully develop its dense, resinous buds and rich terpene profile, for a high-quality yield in a manageable timeframe.
It is also noted for its resilience and adaptability, a great option for growers of all levels. Its strong resistance to common pests and diseases, with that efficient flowering time, makes for a smooth, successful grow. Novice or experienced, you can expect a rewarding harvest with minimal challenges.
How to grow Northern Critical strain?
Northern Critical seeds can be grown indoors or outdoors under optimal conditions. The plants are compact, robust, hardy and moderately easy to grow, though it is always worth guarding against pests. A few methods help retain and enhance the terpenes and flavors of your buds:
- Use a quality substrate. Perlite, peat or coco coir are ideal for moisture retention.
- In our customersā experience with Northern Critical, good technique can increase yields by up to 20%.
For indoor cultivation, we advise wide, vertical spaces and the ScrOG method to obtain a uniform canopy and build up the lower flowers. Feed quality nutrients through the seedling, vegetative and flowering stages. Outdoors, choose a spot with the most direct sunlight; indoors, set up good tents, fabric pots, LED lighting, an air extractor and a carbon filter.
Keep daytime temperatures between 68 and 80 ā, and night temperatures 7 to 9 ā cooler than the day. These plants prefer low humidity: 55 to 60% in the vegetative phase, around 40% in flowering, and down to 30% by harvest.
Outdoors in the northern hemisphere, sow in April for a harvest in mid-October, at about 21.16 to 28.22 oz per plant (600 to 800 g). Indoors, the cycle runs 8 to 10 weeks with yields of 1.97 oz/ft² (600 g/m²).
Ideal Climate for Growing
Northern Critical flourishes in a temperate climate with moderate temperatures and ample sunlight. The ideal range is 72 to 80 ā (22 to 27 ā), which supports robust growth and healthy yields.
It benefits from consistent lighting and humidity around 40 to 50% in the vegetative stage, lowering to 30 to 40% in flowering. Soil must be well-draining to avoid root issues and keep nutrients readily available for optimal development.
In the United States, optimal states include California, Oregon, Colorado, Kentucky and Tennessee, with the warm summers and mild winters the strain needs. In these regions Northern Critical performs exceptionally well, with dense buds and good potency. With the right environment, you can maximize its potential for a bountiful harvest.
What does the strain smell like?
The buds of Northern Critical are rock-hard, soaked in resin and often carry a crystalline sheen from the sheer amount of trichomes. On the palate it blends bright citrus with sweet, ripe fruit over an incense-like, earthy-spicy base, the fresh citrus of Critical+ meeting the resinous depth of Northern Lights.
Northern Critical makes for a smooth, soft smoke and a strong, relaxing experience. Thanks to its heavy resin production, it is also an ideal strain for high-quality extracts and concentrates that capture its sweet citrus-incense profile.
Experiencing the strain
With a Medium THC of 15% to 18%, Northern Critical brings a happy, deeply relaxed and sedative state of body and mind. It leaves you calm and at ease, settling into a comfortable body, perfect for the evening after a long day.
It is a mostly indica plant with a sturdy main stem that supports its satellite branches. It grows well indoors or outdoors, with a similar production and a higher yield when it gets full outdoor sunshine.
Northern Critical seeds are a mostly indica strain with a flowering period of 8 to 10 weeks. Feeding the right nutrients at each stage helps develop resinous buds and trichomes.
Northern Critical Strain terpenes
Northern Critical carries a ten-terpene profile that shapes both its sweet citrus-incense aroma and its heavy, calming, body-forward high, with four terpenes doing most of the work.
Myrcene is the heart of the profile, a ripe, earthy-fruity note with a faint muskiness that grounds the sweetness and gives the smoke its weight. It is widely associated with a deeply relaxing, muscle-softening quality. In Northern Critical it drives the comfortable body high and sits behind the strainās use for muscle spasms and restful sleep.
Limonene brings the bright side of the aroma, a zesty citrus note that defines the Citrus flavor, inherited from the Critical+ side. It is commonly associated with an uplifted, positive mood. Here it lightens the heavy base and adds a gentle lift that ties into the strainās use for stress and low energy.
Caryophyllene adds a warm, peppery spice that reads as the incense-like depth of the aroma. It is the one terpene that interacts with the bodyās CB2 receptors and is widely tied to calming, tension-soothing properties. In this cultivar it reinforces the relief many seek for muscle spasms and everyday stress.
Linalool rounds things off with a soft, floral note carrying a faint sweetness, widely linked to a calming, stress-easing quality that quiets an overactive mind. Here it works alongside the Myrcene to deepen the relaxed, sedative finish that defines the strain.
Rounding out the profile, Humulene adds an earthy, woody depth that echoes the Caryophyllene, Terpinolene and Farnesene bring a fresh, fruity-herbal lift, Alpha-Pinene and Beta-Pinene a touch of pine and clarity, and Caryophyllene Oxide a cool, woody-spicy edge that completes the aroma.
