Lineage Northern Lights #10 Strain

Northern Lights #10 is a well-regarded strain celebrated for its happy, relaxed and talkative effects and beginner-friendly growth. This indica-dominant hybrid offers a sweet, slightly spicy taste and a smooth, enjoyable smoke, often chosen by those seeking relief from anxiety, low mood and pain.

Born from Northern Lights x a secret hybrid, it is a mostly indica hybrid, 75% Indica / 25% Sativa, with citrus and earthy flavors over a strong, mostly indica body high.

With a THC of 20% to 25%, it is a great choice for anyone after a strong, relaxing experience.

Northern Lights #10 was created more than 25 years ago by the Dutch breeder The Flying Dutchmen. It carries Afghani/Skunk genetics and is one of the most acclaimed strains of all time, with a sweet, fruity profile and hints of lemon and citrus, known for a powerful, relaxing, calming effect and a sweet terpene taste.

It is one of the best strains to grow indoors, a fast-flowering plant that produces a large harvest. Fungus- and pest-resistant, it is ideal for beginners in cannabis growing.

Origin

Northern Lights #10 hails from Amsterdam, crafted over 25 years ago by a renowned Dutch breeder. It inherits its exceptional qualities from the world-famous Northern Lights (NL), which originated in Seattle.

The feminized seeds are the product of expert crossbreeding between a robust Thai sativa, similar to Thai Fantasy, and a pure Afghani landrace similar to Skunk 1, giving a strain noted for remarkable resilience and potent, relaxing effects.

Its genetics make it highly sought after by breeders and consumers alike. That powerful lineage has made it a staple in many cannabis projects, such as Northern Lights x Amnesia Haze. Known for disease resistance and strong effects, Northern Lights #10 remains a popular choice for anyone after reliable, high-quality seeds.

Northern Lights #10 Sativa or Indica?

Northern Lights #10 is predominantly indica, 75% Indica / 25% Sativa, celebrated for its deeply relaxing effects. It is a quintessential indica, offering deep relaxation and tranquility.

With a genetic base built for a serene experience, it embodies the classic traits indica enthusiasts appreciate, a great choice for anyone after a calming session.

Northern Lights #10 Effects

The effects of Northern Lights #10 are led by its predominantly indica nature: a soothing experience of deep relaxation and calming euphoria, with a happy, talkative edge. Many also turn to it for support with anxiety, low mood and pain.

The effects go beyond the body for a harmonious, pleasurable session. Enthusiasts value it for the calm, content state it brings, a preferred choice for relaxation and stress relief. Effects vary from person to person.

Germinating Cannabis Seeds

It is important to germinate your Northern Lights #10 Feminized cannabis seeds carefully if you want to have a healthy harvest from day one. Although there are several methods to germinate our Feminized cannabis seeds, at Blimburn Seeds, we recommend our customers to follow our easy and simple technique.

Before removing our Northern Lights #10 Feminized cannabis seeds from their packaging, remember that cannabis seeds are alive and delicate. Hands can be full of bacteria that can easily infect seeds and ruin the germination process.

Set Up Your Germination Station: Begin by moistening two paper towels with room temperature water. Lay one paper towel on a plate and spread the seeds on it, spacing them about 2 cm apart. Place the second paper towel on top of the seeds, and make sure to remove any excess water from the plate. Cover the setup with another opaque plate and store it in a warm, dark location.

Monitoring: Make sure paper towels are still moist by checking every 4-6 hours and spraying room temperature water. Typically, germination should occur within 24 to 120 hours. Once the seeds have sprouted tap roots, plant them with the roots facing down and cover with about 2 cm of soil. Remember to water the soil regularly by spraying to keep it moist. It may take up to two weeks for the plants to start growing.

Ideal Conditions: Maintain a consistent temperature of 70-90ĀŗF in the germination area. Use purified room temperature bottled water with a pH level between 5.5 and 7. Keep the seeds away from light, allowing exposure for less than 1 minute before and during germination. Avoid touching the seeds or applying pressure to them.

Record Keeping: To qualify for the three month germination guarantee, it is necessary to follow all the steps outlined in our germination guidelines. Please do not use alternative germination methods, such as using a water bottle or planting directly into soil. Document the germination process through photography or video, as it will be requested when assessing claims for replacement products.

Flowering Time

A main advantage of Northern Lights #10 is its fast flowering time, typically 7 to 9 weeks, a preferred choice for growers after quick, high-yield results with minimal effort.

It thrives indoors, where controlled conditions enhance resin production and bud density. Outdoors it performs best in warm, dry climates, producing high yields of potent, aromatic buds. Its resistance to pests and diseases adds to its appeal for growers of all levels.

How to Grow Northern Lights 10 strain

Northern Lights #10 seeds can be grown indoors or outdoors under optimal conditions. The plants are moderately easy to grow and hardy, though it is always worth guarding against pests. A few methods help retain and enhance the terpenes and flavors of your buds:

  • Use a quality substrate. Perlite, peat or coco coir are ideal for moisture retention.
  • In our customers’ experience with Northern Lights #10, good technique can increase yields by up to 20%.

For indoor cultivation, we advise wide, vertical spaces and the ScrOG method to obtain a uniform canopy and build up the lower flowers. If you plan to grow these feminized seeds outdoors, we also have an indoor grow guide for optimal cultivation anywhere in the world. Feed quality nutrients through the seedling, vegetative and flowering stages. Indoors, set up good tents, fabric pots, LED lighting, an air extractor and a carbon filter.

Keep daytime temperatures between 68 and 80 ℉, and night temperatures 7 to 9 ℉ cooler than the day. These plants prefer low humidity: 55 to 60% in the vegetative phase, around 40% in flowering, and down to 30% by harvest.

Outdoors in the northern hemisphere, sow in April for a harvest in September, at about 21.16 to 28.22 oz per plant (600 to 800 g). Indoors, the cycle runs 7 to 9 weeks with yields of 1.64 to 1.97 oz/ft² (500 to 600 g/m²).

Optimal Climate for Cultivating

Northern Lights #10 thrives under fairly specific conditions. A tropical climate, with dry, hot summers and mild, wetter winters, is ideal. The recommended range is 70 to 85 ℉ (21 to 29 ā„ƒ), with plenty of sunlight during the growth periods. Aim for moderate annual rainfall of around 14 to 30 inches (350 to 760 mm), and use well-drained soil to prevent root rot.

In the United States, the prime states include California, Arizona, Nevada, New Mexico, Florida and Texas, which offer the mix of heat, sunlight and conditions Northern Lights #10 needs to bloom to its potential. If you live in one of these states, or can provide similar conditions, you will bring out the iconic earthy-sweet flavors and potency of the strain.

What does the Northern Lights #10 Smell Like?

The buds of Northern Lights #10 are rock-hard, soaked in resin and often carry a crystalline sheen from the sheer amount of trichomes. On the palate it blends bright citrus with a deep, earthy base, over a sweet, spicy pine aroma with notes of incense and hashish.

Northern Lights #10 makes for a smooth, soft smoke and a strong, relaxing experience. Thanks to its heavy resin production, it is also an ideal strain for high-quality extracts and concentrates that capture its earthy, citrus-pine profile.

If the zesty citrus and earthy richness of Northern Lights #10 appeals to you, you will also adore the iconic aroma of Northern Lights.

Experiencing the Strain

With a THC of 20% to 25%, Northern Lights #10 brings a happy, relaxed and talkative state of body and mind. It leaves you cheerful and at ease, pairing an easygoing head with a comfortable body, perfect for the evening after a long day.

It is a mostly indica plant with a sturdy main stem that supports its satellite branches. It grows well indoors or outdoors, with a similar production and a higher yield when it gets full outdoor sunshine.

Northern Lights #10 seeds are a mostly indica strain with a flowering period of 7 to 9 weeks. Feeding the right nutrients at each stage helps develop resinous buds and trichomes.

Northern Lights 10 Terpenes

Northern Lights #10 carries a nine-terpene profile that shapes both its earthy, spicy-pine aroma and its heavy, calming, body-forward high, while the bright citrus note it is known for traces back to its Northern Lights lineage rather than to a single terpene.

Myrcene is the heart of the profile, a ripe, earthy-musky note that grounds the aroma and gives the smoke its weight. It is widely associated with a deeply relaxing, muscle-softening quality. In Northern Lights #10 it drives the comfortable body high and sits behind the strain’s use for physical pain and winding down.

Caryophyllene adds a warm, peppery spice that reads as the hashish-like, incense depth of the aroma. It is the one terpene that interacts with the body’s CB2 receptors and is widely tied to calming, anti-inflammatory properties. Here it is central to the relief many seek for anxiety and everyday pain.

Linalool brings a soft, floral note with a faint sweetness, widely linked to a calming, stress-easing quality that quiets an overactive mind. In this cultivar it deepens the relaxed, tranquil character and supports the strain’s use for anxiety and low mood.

Humulene adds an earthy, woody, faintly hoppy character that carries much of the strain’s Earthy flavor and echoes the Caryophyllene. It is commonly linked to anti-inflammatory and grounding qualities, reinforcing the pain- and tension-easing side of the effect.

Rounding out the profile, Terpinolene and Farnesene add a fresh, fruity-herbal lift that nudges the mood upward, Alpha-Pinene and Beta-Pinene a crisp pine edge with a touch of clarity, and Caryophyllene Oxide a cool, woody-spicy depth that completes the aroma.

How To Grow Northern Lights #10

Read Now

The original Northern Lights seeds produced eleven main phenotypes. While #5 became the most famous for its pure Indica traits, Northern Lights #10 was highly prized for being a “keeper” cut that blended the best of the NL family. It’s known for its exceptional resin production, incredible stability, and a perfect balance of the sweet and spicy terpene profile, representing the pinnacle of the NL breeding program.

It is arguably one of the most beginner-friendly photoperiod strains of all time. Northern Lights is legendary for its resilience and ease of growth. It is incredibly robust, forgiving of common mistakes, naturally resistant to pests and mold, and has a famously low odor during growth. It reliably produces massive yields of top-shelf cannabis, making it a perfect, low-stress plant to build a new grower’s confidence.

Expect a classic, robust, ‘Christmas-tree-shaped’ Indica structure. It grows to a short-to-medium height with a very strong main stem, sturdy side-branching, and a dark green color. It does not stretch much, making it an ideal choice for growers with limited vertical space or small tents. Its fantastic bud-to-leaf ratio also makes it very easy to trim at harvest time.

Yes, it’s one of the best choices for discretion. While the cured buds are very aromatic, Northern Lights #10 inherits the famously low-odor trait of the Northern Lights family during the growth cycle. It produces significantly less smell in the grow room compared to modern “gassy” or fruity strains, making it a top choice for growers who need to be mindful of their neighbors or are growing in a confined space.
