Good news for the patients who treat their ailments with therapeutic marijuana and its derivatives and who will go this summer to Russia to enjoy the World Cup. The Eurasian Economic Union, led by Russia, has confirmed the granting of the right to bring substances usually prohibited in the country to travelers who prove their possession with the relevant documentation. Among them, of course, cannabis.

In addition, cocaine and even heroin are among the permitted drugs. Even so, it is not that the 2018 World Cup is going to be a drug party, because it will be thoroughly controlled each permit and the amount of substance that the patient can take with him to ensure that it is only consumed for medicinal purposes.

Concerned about the news, the World Cup Organizing Committee will also take part on the matter so that the concession by the Eurasian Economic Union does not become a security problem. They will monitor very closely the recently approved regulations in this regard. Especially in the accesses to the stadiums, which will have severe checkpoints designed to control the drug that enters the fields. In any case, there are other main security problems that will have to be taken into account in the first place, such as the violence of hooligans or terrorism.

2018 FIFA World Cup Russia will be held from June 14 to July 15 in a total of 11 cities, including Moscow, St. Petersburg or Sochi, and where it will take another step towards the normalization of cannabis consumption, even for medicinal purposes.
